The C.S.I.'s race to the scene. As they race to the scene, Adam has a flashback of when he first met Jack:
Two Years Ago....Adam walked out of his commanding officer's office in Chicago a bit frustrated. Due to a lack of evidence, a certain killer was walking free. Adam stopped in the hallway a gave a frustrated sigh. "You look like you need a harsh reality check kid." an unfamiliar voice said. "What's it to you?" Adam asked. "I've been there done that. I've got reprimanded by my superior officer, seen killers walk free, and all the other injustices in the police department. But one constant remains: the blue wall. We have each other's backs. But that's another story for another time." the stranger replied. "So I'm assuming you didn't come here to blow smoke up my ass." Adam said sarcastically. "Very observant you are, but no, that's not why I'm here; I'm here with a proposition for you: I have a unit that I run in Los Angeles. It's not exactly police work, but you'll get a lot more hands-on activity. Not only that, you'll really be able to decipher a lot of evidence, and at times really delve into the criminal mind. If you like working long hours, analyzing evidence, and want a chance at more action, I have an opening for C.S.I.; What do you say?" asked the stranger. "What's the catch?" Adam asked. "No catch, except this: I can't guarantee your situation will be better than what it is here in Chicago, but I do know a cop with good potential when I see one." "You think I got potential?" Adam asked. "Tremendous, and I think it could be very long term if you know what I mean; You've got a lot of talent, you just don't know how to use it. In other words you got the dream, but not the drive." the stranger said. "Think it over. Here's my card. Call me." the stranger said as he walked away. Adam looked at the card. It said Jack Morgan, L.A.P.D. C.S.I.
Five weeks ago....
Jack received a phone call while he was working one night on paperwork from a previous case. "Jack Morgan?" He answered. "This is Adam Miller. Does that offer for C.S.I. still stand?" Adam asked over the phone. "Pack your bags kid." Jack replied calmly. "I'm on the next flight out to Los Angeles." Adam replied back.
Flash forward to the present, and the C.S.I.'s arrive on the scene;
"It's Clarence Howard all right." George stated. "I never thought I'd see the day when my former partner's killer bites the dust." Lisa said. "I'm sorry you never got justice for your former partner." Amanda said. "Well, at least I can find solace, knowing that a known drug-dealer and cop-killer is gone and off the streets." Lisa replied. "We find any bullets in this guy?" Adam asked. "None that I can see. We'll have to wait for the autopsy." Ann stated. "First rule of assassination: kill the assassin." Amanda stated. "Now we're back to square one." Lisa sighed in frustration. "Not quite. Once we get the autopsy report from Derek, we'll run a ballistics comparison to the bullets we pulled out of Jack and our first victim Joey Crawford; If they match, we've got our killer." George stated. "Amanda, Ann and I will head over to the morgue and get the autopsy report from Derek." Lisa stated. "We'll keep you updated and apprise you of anything we find out." Amanda said. "Alright. We'll head over to the hospital and get an update on Jack from Melissa and Regina. Alright, let's move out!" George commanded.
So Clarence Howard is dead. The only question is, who killed him and what the evidence and autopsy report will reveal. Plus, will Jack recover?
Find out in the next chapter, as Melissa has a conversation with Regina about how she met Jack, how they broke up, and more!!
