A text message appears on Harold Bynes i-phone: It says: Anonymous tip: "Someone else was involved in your business. Meet me at JAMN logistics warehouse. I have vital info for you."
Bynes arrives at the warehouse, where a mysterious figure awaits. Bynes approaches the figure with his gun drawn. "You almost got away with it, didn't you captain? Lisa says. Bynes looks on in shock. "You tried to make me take the fall for your associate's murder, and ruin my career as a cop. No wonder you tried to have me suspended years ago." Bynes looks on with a smug look. "You were a loose cannon. Someone had to put you in your place, especially after my #1 guy blew your partner's head-off." Lisa seethed with rage. "You're never gonna get away with this!" She snapped. "I already have. I eliminated all the witnesses, tied up all the lose ends, and settled old scores. Trust me, it's all taken care of." Bynes said with an evil smile. "You're not good at keeping promises Harold." Another voice said from the shadows. "Who's that?" Harold asked, drawing his gun on the mysterious character. The character stepped out from the shadows to reveal Jack with his own gun drawn. "Jack?" Harold gasped. "You're supposed to be..." "Dead?" "Is that what you heard?" Jack asked sarcastically. "This was all a set-up from the get-go. Kevin Fischer, Gary Thomas, Tim Myers, Clarence Howard, Jordan Crawford, they were all just pawns in your little game of deception weren't they?" Bynes smiled again with a hint of evilness. "You guys were getting too close. You were putting too much heat on us. We had to get you guys out of the way."
"The only problem is that you didn't get the job done." Lisa rebuffed. "Are you kidding? There's no evidence to connect me to the crimes. There's no witnesses to testify against me. You've got a weak case at best." Bynes retorted. "Not necessarily. We have two living witnesses, that's myself and Lisa. We also have evidence that you killed the security guard, Jordan Crawford and Clarence Howard, and shot me as well. We ran trace analysis on the bullets we found at each scene, and your fingerprints were all over the guns and the bullets." Jack explained. "More important than that, we pulled your file and saw the one case you didn't want us to see. You and Jack were the two arresting officers in the case against Kevin Fischer & Gary Thomas; That's why you didn't want anybody to find out about it, because you knew they could trace the source back to you." Lisa stated. "Not only that, ballistics matched the bullets to your gun: glock 9 m.m. Only three people in the entire police department carry that weapon. That's like a fingerprint I.D. it belongs to nobody but you." Jack continued. "All this evidence is circumstantial at best. Besides, if this goes to trial, it's your words against mine, and who do you think the judge is gonna believe? You guys or a cop with a proven reputation?" Harold asked. "The only reputation you have is for being corrupt and being an asshole." Jack rebuffed. "As well as betraying and shirking the very oaths, duties, and responsibilities you swore to uphold." Lisa chimed in.
Lisa then pulls out a tape recorder from her jacket, and plays back Bynes statement that he made a few minutes earlier: "I eliminated all the witnesses, tied up all the lose ends, and settled old scores. Trust me, it's all taken care of." Jack then pulls out a tape recorder of his own and plays another segment: "You guys were getting too close. You were putting too much heat on us. We had to get you guys out of the way."
"Tape recorded confessions not only are good for admissible evidence, they make cases like these, open and shut ones; You're finished Bynes." Lisa said. "Move in." Jack stated into his walkie-talkie, and Amanda and Ann burst in with guns drawn. Harold immediately surrendered, realizing his game was up. Adam and George then came in and slapped handcuffs on Harold. "You're under arrest for conspiracy, aiding and abetting a known felon, fraud, & conduct unbecoming." Lisa stated firmly. "Plus the murders of Jordan Crawford, Clarence Howard, security guard Roger Mitchell, the attempted murder of a police officer, but most of all....for pissing me off! Get him out of here!" Jack ordered. "If I go down for this Jack, so do you." Harold said, gritting his teeth. "Yeah, I can live with that." Jack replied. "I'll see you in hell!" Harold snapped. "You first...enjoy the ride." Jack said back as Adam and George put Harold in a police car. "You O.K.?" Jack asked. "I will be." Lisa replied. "Come on, let's get out of here." Jack said.
5 weeks later....
Jack is walking into the lab with Melissa and Regina. He notices the lights are off in the briefing room. Jack walks in and flicks on the lights:
"Surprise! Happy Birthday Jack!" the C.S.I.'s shout. "Welcome back, Captain Morgan." Adam stated. "You got promoted?" Amanda asked with a smile. "Yeah, one of the rewards I got for taking down Harold Bynes. They needed a new captain, one whose morals were good and whose conduct would reflect exactly what the department needs." Jack replied. "They couldn't have asked a more qualified person to do it." Lisa said smiling. "Let's drink to that." Jack said. "To Jack." George said. "To Jack." "The rest of the C.S.I.'s stated. Melissa and Regina then brought out a cake and Jack blew out the candles. The C.S.I.'s applauded as they continued to celebrate.
So Harold has been busted...finally, and Jack has been promoted and will have a happy birthday...luckily. Only time will tell what kind of impact the aftermath of nearly being killed will have on Jack and the rest of the C.S.I.'s.
