(Y/n)'s pov-
I woke up to the daily arguing between my parents and got ready for the day. 'What does he see in her?' I sigh and go to the kitchen where I see them fighting while my half-sister just sat there not phased by them yelling, eating cereal. They stopped fighting and turned to me once I spoke. "Good morning, I guess," their eyes followed me to a seat where I sat down.
My dad's eyes lock with mine for a few seconds then he looked away when he started to speak. "Sorry if we woke you, (y/n)," I look away from him and got a portion of cereal. "It's okay, dad. I should remind both of you that I get to be what I want, you can't boss me around about what job I should have." I look at my bowl trying to hide my anger from both of them.
The rest of the day was quiet as I worked on little chores I had to do around the town. By the time I got back to the house, my stepmother greeted me with a scowl on her face. She was on the couch and my dad was in the kitchen writing a letter. I walked over to him till he notices I was home. "Hey, (Y/n)! You got back early than usual."
I set a basket full of food and other things on the table and sat down next to my dad. "So, what are you writing?" He started smiling while looking at the paper. "Nothing. Just writing back to the best hunter school that accepted you."
My eyes widen as he said that, "Really? I'm going to be a hunter?!" I jumped out of my seat and instantly hugged my dad, "I can't believe it! I'm so excited!!" My dad laughs and hugs me back.
"Well, you will need to pack since it is a long horse ride there tomorrow, and they recently added rooms to the school so you will be staying there." I kissed my dad's cheek and ran to my room to pack. A few minutes pass and I hear a knock. "Who is it?" My dad came in with the brightest smile I haven't seen in a while.
"You almost ready for your leave tomorrow?" I nod and smile at him. For the rest of the night, I struggled to go to sleep because of the excitement, but after an hour or two I drifted off. "I'm gonna be a hunter..I'll finally get to avenge you, mom," I whispered to myself as I drifted off to sleep.
I woke up, but it was quiet. It was strange not waking up to arguing, but I'm gonna get used to it soon! I got all the stuff I packed last night and headed to the kitchen where everyone was. My step-mother and half-sister looked annoyed at something, no surprise there, and my dad looked so happy as he ate his breakfast. He finished his breakfast as I sat down to eat some cereal.
"You excited for your studies, (Y/n)?" I look up at my dad and smiled excitedly, "You bet! I can't wait to meet other hunters in training." He soon got up, hugged me, and left to take care of what was once my chores. Once he left it fell silent, the only thing my step-mom and half-sister did was exchange death glares at me while I finished eating.
"Alright, I best be on my way," I said smiling while grabbing my stuff and heading to the door. "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." I ignored the voice behind me as well as the laughter and walked out. Now I am one step closer to avenging my mother.
