━─━────༺༻────━─━Standing at the now empty bar, I'm laughing to myself. And not just from the extra martini I've slipped myself.
Sitting on the bar-top in front of me is almsot £1500 in tips. It's almost a quarter past twelve and I'm dead tired, but I'd work nonstop for tips that cover my rent.
I pocket the cash and wipe down the bar one more time before heading towards the door.
The voices travelling in almost startle me out of my sleepy daze.
Red Tie stands just outside the doors talking to one of the guests. I remeber his request to talk to me and loiter in the hall, a bit farther from him.
I can't really hear what he's talking to the guest about, but they both seem angry.
The guest, a woman in a black dress, is strikingly beautiful even with the prominent frown she's sporting.
Red Tie seems not nearly as angry as her, more so irritated as if she's inconveniencing him. He speaks to her in hush tones, as if he's trying to calm her rather than argue.
It's then that I realize she isn't actually a guest. I never saw her at the bar, though her flushed skin and heavy eyes suggest she's been drinking.
Her eyes catch mine and I quickly look away.
She yells something in another language, but I don't react. Not until I hear a hard slap.
The hem of her dress breezes past me and I shake slightly at the wave of searing heat emanating from her.
Her heels click down the hallway and I only look up when the sound doesn't echo towards me anymore.
Red Tie clears his throat. His expression is a bit somber, generally unbothered.
"I'm sorry you had to see that." He says simply.
I feel like I should say something, but I don't have to.
"Walk with me." He says.
I almost leap to fall into his stride. Which is, not at all surprisingly, long. Every single step of his equates to two of mine.
"Ignore me of I'm over stepping, sir but, is everything okay?"
He smiles, his dark eyes facing straight ahead, gleaming softly against the dim lights.
"You're not over stepping, no. And everything's fine. Just another scorned lover. You know how it is." He laughs.
Not really, but I laugh along with him anyway.
