Opening the door, I feel the gentle breeze blew in my face. I can already feel my mood lifting. I go and lay in the same shaded area I was at before. I place my bag next to me and take my bento box out that I prepared the night before, putting it on my lap. I close my eyes taking a bite out of the bento listening as cars passed by and the wind blew. If only..it could always be like this. I open my eyes looking around the rooftop. "weird". How is it that I'm always alone here, I know it's off-limits, but you'd think there would be someone like me who didn't care about rules like that. I finish my bento and put the lid back on into my bag. I stand up putting my bag on the ground and take a look enjoying the view.
I look around as the cars passed by in the distance, the gentle breeze blowing around trees and plants, some of the buildings being shown by the sunlight, everything, in general, seemed peaceful and quiet on the rooftop. "If only it was like this in Japan" I frown remembering Shimizu-San, surprisingly it still comes as a surprise to me why she ever did what she did. She was a great person who didn't deserve to save my life for what? For me to live regretting those events? For me to move to Seoul to fulfill her last wish she had. It wasn't even a wish for her really...."If only it was me and not you. Little by little I start to see the view begin to blur as water droplets one, by one begin to fall. "Why....j-just why did you have to risk everything for me Rio".
I let my body give out as it fell to the ground. Having my hands cover the tears that were falling from little by little to just tears coming out. Rio was always looking out for others, she was what most would call an extraordinary person. She had a smile that would always brighten others' day, even mine. I still remember when I first was introduced to her by her sister, Takiyo.
"Aiko let's hurry back to my house, my sister should be coming back home today" I tilt my head in confusion, "huh since when did you have a sister Takiyo?". She lets out a giggle "pretty sure since I was born Aiko, I mentioned her before remember?" She looks at me smiling, I laugh at her expression, like an excited puppy. "No I don't remember, but let's hurry then," I say grabbing her hand dragging her along. "We're almost here hurry Aiko!" She lets go of my hand and races off. "So silly, she just left her friend". I look up at the stars that were always glowing too beautifully. I look back down to see a car pull up to the driveway of Takiyo's house. Titling my head confused on who it was since Takiyo said her sister was already home unless she had to go get something maybe.
The door of the car opens as I reach Takiyo's house and a woman or rather a girl who seemed to be a few years older than Takiyo. This must be Takiyo's sister, they do look similar in a way, besides the hair color. Her hair was more light brown than Takiyo's. I must admit I'm a little jealous her sister was pretty. She looks and notices me, "안녕하세요," I say bowing then freezing. "S-Sorry I mean hello, I didn't mean to say it in Korean," I say embarrassed that I mixed my Japanese and Korean again. She chuckles, "You must be Miyoko". She smiles at me. "So your father is Korean I see, well, 안녕하세요," she says bowing. "It's nice to meet imouto's (younger sister) friend" she smiles a kind genuine one. I return the smile. "Did you need any help carrying anything. She laughs, "Oh I almost forgot about it, silly me, yes let's carry this stuff inside" She walks over to the car and open the back. When I grab the box that wasn't too heavy she says, "oh and if you ever need anything just let me know Miyoko" I nod and smile back. "Will do Shimizu".
I hold onto my chest feeling the air around me begin to decrease. I try to relax and control my breathing taking deep breaths. "It's okay Aiko..i-its not your fault". Slowly the scenery around me begins to become clear again. I slowly wipe off my tears and stand up. I look over at my bag and walk over to it opening it and grabbing the medicine my mom left me. I take one and swallow it with the leftover Mugicha I had leftover and lay back down against the wall. "This sucks" I mumble to myself. All of a sudden a loud slam causes me to jump. "See Samuel no one is here". I can't really understand their language I think I heard it before it must be English, I remember Oto-san (her father) watching a movie in English but I never really understood what they were saying just like these people.
Although I don't understand a word they are saying, I know it can't be anything good judging from their facial expression and the energy they are giving off. They can't be good people. I slowly stand up, not making a sound, or rather trying not to at least. I pick my bag up and look around to see if there is anywhere I can hide. I look to the opposite side those other students were at, looking beside me I see a box tall enough for me to climb. I grab my bag putting it on top of the box. I take a deep breath and jump up. Thankfully my hands reach the top, then, from there I pull myself up with all my strength. I grab my bag and put it on top of the building that had the stairs to go down from the roof. I pick up a rock that was on the box and throw it to the opposite side of me hitting the fence.
"Hey what was that Samuel". While they go check what the sound was I jump up the building and lay down. "Finally safe". Thankfully if I didn't climb up here they would've seen me. Just what are they up to though? I stay quiet and look over at them. One of the students who had curly brown hair seems to be texting someone. Just then the door to the building opens and out comes a girl with glasses. "W-what do you guys want now?". Oh, it's not an exchange student this time, thankfully they are speaking Korean now. "Well you see Dae you haven't been answering us lately or doing any of the things we been asking you too" I look at her and she flinches as they approach her. This doesn't seem good I should step in, but not yet.
I grab my phone and take it out pressing the record button. "I told you guys I d-don't want to be controlled anymore, I-I'm tired of i-it". They just laugh it off, "and you gave you permission to decide that" he looks at her "you?". He's starting to raise his voice in a more aggressive manner taking small steps towards her as she backs away, " listen bitch, you don't get to decide what you want to do, WE DECIDE THAT". The other guy looks at the girl and smirks, "maybe we should have fun with her and teach her a lesson Samuel" I don't understand what they said in English but the girl seemed to understand because she looked at them in fear and said in Korean, " n-no please d-don't". They laugh and are about to take a step forward till I grab my bag and throw it on of their heads. "OW WHAT THE FUCK". I bring my phone down and look down at them and they look up at me.
"Now who said you two dumb-assess could bully a girl on the rooftop," I say looking at them in anger as my fist clench standing up straight looking them straight in the eyes. I look over at the girl, "hey you best not listen to them, hurry now, leave". She looks at me speechless and unsure of what to do. "Leave I got this" she hesitates for a second then nods and runs inside. "HEY BITCH GET BACK HERE". Before they could go in front of the door I jump down blocking them from leaving. "Well that's a little rude to leave while someone's talking but I believe we have some unfinished business," I say smiling.
