Serena was starting to feel normal. Going back to work and getting back to her routine made her feel better. She just wanted to put the events of the previous weekend behind her. She walked across the hall and knocked on the door. After a moment Blair opened the door and walked out."I don't know why I let you get me up so early on the weekends for church."
Because you love me. Serena signed.
Blair just rolled her eyes as they walked out of the apartment building. After church they went to their usual spot for brunch.
"So how have you been?"
She started signing.
"Wait, you're going too fast and I don't know half of what you're saying."
Serena sighed and grabbed her whiteboard from her bag.
Fine. Going back to work was a good idea.
"I knew it would be good for you."
Serena smiled. But deep down she knew she still had to fight the urge to shut off and numb out the constant fear. She jumped at her own shadow these days. The only time she felt relatively safe was at home. Even there her mind could play tricks on her. But she just smiled. If she pretended to be ok maybe one day she actually would be again. Then Blair brought up her favorite topic these days.
"So have you heard from him yet?"
No Serena signed.
"I can't believe he just left like that and never came back around. And how you didn't get that sex god's number on day one I dont know…"
I don't have his number, no last name...I won't lie, I've tried to find him on social media but I don't have much to go on. I've accepted the fact that he's gone.
Serena watched the pity and anger wash across Blair's face as she read the board. She put on a brave face. It wasn't the first time nor the last time someone came and went in her life she thought. She didn't want to admit even to herself she missed him. She had felt safe with him. She had felt very attracted to him. But most of all she craved having someone she could talk to. Never in her life had anyone ever heard her and it was so easy and nice for once. If it wasn't for Blair she would truly believe she had completely imagined him from the shock of her attack. The subject was changed and Blair spent the rest of the meal telling Serena about her date the night before.
When Serena was back home she went straight to her computer. After thinking about him so much at brunch she decided to try searching online. After hours of scrolling through multiple websites and thousands of profiles for the name Scout she found something. It was a business profile. She clicked on it and saw the name Scout Kelly. Then she looked through the photos and there he was. She couldn't believe it..she had found him. He looked even bigger and more muscular than she remembered. She read he was the owner of a gym but it didn't give any personal information. She went back and searched his full name hoping to find his personal page….nothing. Odd! Who doesn't have a social media account these days she thought to herself. She texted Blair.
I kind of found him -S
What? How? -B
I mean searching for things/people it's my job...I was bound to find something. All I found was where he works…what do I do now? -S
You go and ask him WTF is wrong with him...or better yet let me go and ask! -B
Yeah we both know that's not going to happen. -S
Well whatever you decide let me know if you need me -B
Will do -S
Serena decided to call it a night. She showered and climbed into bed ready for a new week to begin. She knew even going to bed early, morning would come too soon.
