Running Away

New Zealand returned home just in time for Remembrance Day. Every country was in the Europe district visiting, so they were kinda locked there. The doors close for a week, and they won't open for anyone but Oceania residents. Everyone else is expected to not only be in Europe, but stay there. Some got hotels, some stayed with friends. So once that entire Remembrence Day debacle happened, she went home and calmed Australia down, with her luggage being dropped off at the door. She felt drained and tired. She decided to keep her luggage there for the time being, and went up into Australia's room. He was sitting there and playing with his pets. Including his inland taipan. They peered their heads up as they heard the door open and close, with four sets of footsteps coming through the halls. There were quiet whispers as they reached the top landing of the stairs. Then, one set of footsteps walked up to the door and knocked.
"Come in." Canada's head popped through the door to see the two on his bed.
"Hey, I'm so sorry Aussie." Canada then opened the door completely and sat on the end of the bed. "If you want, you can stay with me for a while."
"No, no, it's alright. I just need to talk to them about it properly. Just give me half an hour, I should be ready by then."
"Then I'll go tell them that so they don't barge in on you two."
"Thanks, Canada." He got up and walked to the end of the hall, where they heard more whispers, and more footsteps down the stairs. Kiwi hadn't said anything to Canada, but she didn't feel she had to. Aussie sighed, chuckled a little, then went back to playing with his pets. Kiwi felt a vibration in her pocket and took her phone out.

Fiji

(Kiwi)
<(Kiwi)

(What)>

<(We need you here.)

(What do you mean?)
(What happened.)>

<(Samoa and Tonga are fighting again.)

(Dude I just got back from my country.)>

<(You have a house here, and I have to go to my own country. I can't baby sit them right now.)

(Fine, bitch.)>

New Zealand put down her phone, inhaled deeply to get Aussie's attention, and announced her predicament.
"I have to go to my house."
"What? But I need you here, with me!"
"I know, but Tonga and Samoa are fighting."
"Again? Jesus what is with those two." He whispered the last sentence to himself.
"Maybe you could come with? So you can have some time to think before speaking to them."
"I would love to, but I already promised-"
"We can stay in your house. Mine is too small for the both of us anyways. And if they are close to finding us, we can just move to mine."
"They want to see me in.." He checked his watch. "..20 minutes."
"I have my luggage packed anyways. Just get your shit together." Her eyes pleased with his.
"Alright fine."
Australia packed a backpack full of toiletries he doesn't have in his own house. Every country has a house, but some can live together if they can't afford it. Nobody else can move into the house, but sometimes they can't afford it. Aussie and Kiwi could afford it, they just wanted to move in with their father. Kiwi made her way downstairs as quietly as possible.
"...I just want him to feel comfortable here. I really can't lose another son."
"Pops, I- I'm so sorry. I guess we just have to wait for him to talk to us."
Kiwi grabbed her things and sprinted back up the stairs. She made eye contact with Canada on the way up, where she froze and pressed her finger to her lips. He slightly nodded, and kept them distracted. Aussie had less luggage then her, so he carried one of her bags. They climbed out of his window, landing on the lower roof, which perfectly led to his car. The car was in a position so that it wouldn't be seen by the others. They chucked the luggage in the boot, put Digger and Tangaroa in the backseat and Australia got into the driver's seat, with New Zealand in the passenger's. He started his white ute as quietly as possible and drove away. They didn't leave a letter, and they both left their phones in his room so they couldn't be tracked. They were going to use the PC to email and the cable phone to call. And if they really needed to, they would use letters, something they hadn't done in a while. They both brought a chunk of cash, since Britain could check their bank accounts. Aussie brought his card, but only in case of emergency. They both started a long 40 minute journey towards the Oceania.

"It's been 30 minutes. Where is he?" Britain asked, fiddling with his empty tea cup.
"Why don't we go and check on him then, pops." America suggested. They both went upstairs and opened Australia's bedroom door. The window was open and his bed was a mess. Britian and America started to tear apart the house while calling out for New Zealand and Australia. Downstairs, France started to worry, and went to get up and look.
"Papa, it's alright, they'll find them." His son was usually very worried in these types of situations.
"Canada, you'd tell me the truth, yes?"
"Of course."
"Do you know where they are?"
"NEW ZEALAND! AUSTRALIA!"
"They're fine."
"I found their phones!" America yelled while sprintinng down the stairs, with Britain coming out from a downstairs room.
"What?"
"Their phones! They left them. We have no way to contact them now. No way to track them."
"Shit. What if they're hurt? What if they're kidnapped? What if-"
"Kiwi doesn't have a passcode on her phone. Check if she still doesn't. Besides, I'm sure they're fine. Maybe they just needed space."
"Canada, do you know where they are."
"I have no idea." His voice was steady, it usually went up when he was lying.
"Did you know they were leaving?"
"Yes. Don't know where they are, but they will come back when they're ready."
America attempted to unlocked his sister's phone. He tried again and again. Everyone but Canada attempted to unlock it. Britain even put his glasses on in an attempt to see clearer. It never opened, and ended up disabling for 5 minutes.
"Maybe they're in Canada's house. Let's head over there." America attempted to persuade the others. Canada didn't know if that's where they were headed. So he left the room as quickly as possible. They started out the door, America going to grab his keys when he found they were missing.
"Where are my keys?"
"Where are my keys?"
"I can't find any mon fils et mon amour."
"I know where they are." All eyes turned to Canada. "They need a break, and you will give it to them. You aren't allowed to leave, and only residents can drive to the Oceania district. So it's going to be difficult getting there when your keys have been dropped into Aussie's snake pit where the eggs are." They all glared at him, wanting to say something. "So, you let them be."
They all sat down, some shaking their legs, feeling a sense of hopelessness. They could no longer apologise until he came back. Britain reached for the old cable phone and dialed the number for Australia's house.

They reached the gate of the Europe district, and showed ID. They were both allowed out of the area and made their way.
"Why are they fighting again?" Australia asked, turning a corner in his car.
"Tonga is still angry about Samoa gaining independence."
"They remind me of dad and America."
"I'm kinda hungry."
"We can pull over and get something..."
"Nah, wait 'till we get there." Kiwi turned the music up and started to stare out of the window. "Did we do the right thing? Maybe they wanted to apologise."
"I need a break, and you helped me, Kiwi. You did the right thing." She sighed and met his bright smile with a weak one and worried eyes. His smile faltered seeing her expression. "It isn't your fault. Nothing is. It's my problem to deal with." He looked back at the road, and she exhaled, not realising she was holding it in.
"You don't mind if you stay in the house while I sort Tonga and Samoa out, right? I doubt they'd want to see you there."
"I know, I was thinking that as well."
"Will you be alright on your own?" He glanced at her with an "are you fucking serious, I'm an adult" look on his face. "Ok, fine. Just finding a reason to spend more time with you."
He simply chuckled to himself, an old, brotherly-like chuckle. One you would hear from an older brother who had just served. After a while they pulled into the drive way. They simply grabbed their things, unlocked the door and went straight to the fridge.
