"fuck the code we have to key in, jaeden come help me break the door down. i'm not staying in here forever." walking a distance away from the door with wire over it, john backed up a little more, before charging at it, hitting it violently with his fists, and jaeden doing the same shortly after.

"men are such dumbasses, i can't believe it!" mackenzie rolled her eyes, giving both john and jaeden, who were rubbing their fists, pointed stares. "try using the wire cutters in your duffle bag instead. that'll help us more than banging on the door."

"now tell me, kenz, what makes you think i should listen to you?" eyes gleaming, john spoke up, trying to suppress a laugh while he was at it.

"what makes you think you shouldn't listen to me, orlando?" snickering, the brunette shrugged her shoulders playfully, and gave her boyfriend a wicked grin.

"she's got a good point there, so i'm with her on this, sorry."

"me too" shrugging, jaeden joined lauren and mackenzie, while john just gave them a dirty look for ganging up on him, rummaging through his duffle.

grabbing the wire cutters from john, lauren walked over to the door and started cutting the bottom corner away. the other three searched in their own bags to see if they could find anything else to help with the door. prying open the thick wire, john stuck a flat screw driver into the little air hole on top of the door and started pushing the end side to side, trying to get a big enough hole for his hand to go in.

"why not just make a hole where the lock is, slide the lock out, and we'll get out much faster, j." mackenzie quipped, looking at her watch. except, there was no watch. "shit, i wish i didn't take off my watch when they asked us to take all jewelry or important items off us, but i guess it's better that i don't lose it."

"yeah, we don't even know what time it is, good lord."

"i mean, at least my grandma won't kill me for losing her watch."

"hurry up, get that stupid driver to where the lock is and start putting some work in there please." lauren shivered a little, even with her jacket on and jaeden hugging her. wrapping her arms around his waist, she slowly walked them to a corner.

"yeah whatever, choppy" john scoffed. moving the screw driver to the side of the door, he continued working with mackenzie at his side.

jaeden looked at lauren, who was trembling slightly in his arms. he knew she was scared, and even though he was too, he pushed those thoughts away and started rubbing her back, in an attempt to soothe her.

"hey, everything's going to be fine, alright?" whispering, and softly running his hands through her hair, he breathed in, and smelled the amber-vanilla-lilac perfume, a little of it still lingering around her neck. he smiled for a few seconds, as the scenes of when he gave her the little bottle with shawn mendes' initials on it for her birthday earlier that year flashed through his mind again, and he shut his eyes.

it was november sixth, and he'd shown up just after lauren's birthday party had ended. she'd texted, called, and even asked her friends and john to see where jaeden was, but got no answer. yeah, her birthday was fun enough without him, but a part of her wasn't happy. she was scared that he was out with someone else, or ignoring her on purpose.
