I am Beatrice Prior; but people call me Tris. I am 15 years old and will be 16 in one week. I have an abusive father, a smarty-pants brother and a helpless mother. I mean, she's the nicest person I know but she's no help. She's too scared to. I am moving to Chicago and am starting Dauntless High. My brother is my father's favourite; we're twins. Just because I wasn't a boy, my father hates me. So anyway, my smarty-pants brother is starting Erudite High. But I managed to convince my father to allow me this one thing: go to Dauntless High. Today's my first day...
