i woke up the next morning, confused as to who's bed i was sleeping in. i wasn't sleeping in the extra bed in draco's dorm. i took notice of the arm wrapped around my waist. i turned onto my other side to look at draco.
"good morning" he mumbled, not opening his eyes.
"morning dray" i smiled, "how come i'm not in the extra bed?" i asked.
"you were having a nightmare, and you kept crying out. you wouldn't stop until i hugged you, when i let go you would cry again so i brought you to my bed." he explained, finally opening his eyes.
memories of the nightmare flashed through my mind as i zoned out.
i watched as my 9 year old body walked inside my house with my parents after going for a walk. my 14 year old sister refused to come with. i ran inside the house, excited to show my sister a diadem i found the ditch right outside our house.
"sissy?" i watched me 10 year old self yell. i ran up into her room, her door cracked open. i peeked through with one eye and saw a man shoot a spell at her and then transfer into a rat. he then jump out of her window. i looked at the floor again and screamed. her lifeless body lay on the floor. i pushed the door open and dropped the diadem, accidentally kicking it under her bed. i ran to her body, holding her as close to me as possible as i cried.
my parents ran into the room, wands in their hands. they looked from the open window, to my sisters wand on the floor, and finally to me holding my sisters body.
"n/n?" draco asked. i shook my head.
"sorry." i whispered giving him a sad smile.
"you know. she wouldn't want you to be upset. it's okay to be upset but she would want you to be happy. she loves you and she wants you to continue your life."
"i know.. it's just hard."
"i know, i know. it hasn't been that long. it takes time. the pain will never go away but you'll learn how to live without it."
"this is why you're my best friend." i said while kissing his cheek and cuddling into his side.
