Warning, uneditted...But here is Chapter 2.
(2)School(2)
I should have known they weren’t going to let me see my mom to tell her goodbye, that I had passed the test. In fact, if being a Bender was anything like being a Seer then my mother would be given a letter informing her of my ability and transfer to my new school. She would also be told to pack up the belongings that she thinks I would want with me to be sent to the school. It was sad that I couldn’t say goodbye, but we both had the feeling in the back of our head that I would pass today.
My escort had led me outside of the white hall and into the back of a van before she walked away and three guards took her place. We waited for what I presume to be the rest of the kids to perform the test. Apparently I was the only bender today for no other kids joined me for the ride. Honestly, I wish someone else had passed for the ride was filled with boredom. There was no window in this section of the van so I couldn’t see where we were going and the guard sitting in the back with me (the other two were driver and shotgun) didn’t talk.
I’m not exaggerating, I asked him where we were going at least ten times and he continued to not reply. It was annoying to say the least since patience is not a virtue I pride myself on at all. My fingers continued to tap out a rhythm on the walls and floor of the strange van. My tapping caused me to receive a glare from the guard but I only smiled back. There had to be something to do to occupy my time.
We went around another corner harshly as my body was flung to the other side of the vehicle. I groaned, slowly sitting back up. “Was that really necessary?” I questioned, rubbing my head as a slow and steady throb began to pulse through it.
The guard grinned. Apparently my pain caused him some sort of joy. I glared at him before moving back to my spot and beginning to tap once again. I didn’t get very far when the van screeched to a halt. The guard grunted, pointing his head towards the back of the van as the door swung open and the other two guards stood there.
I climbed out of the vehicle, the other guard right on my tail. Being outside was nice, but I couldn’t really tell where I was besides that we were near some sort of cave entrance. I stretched as I looked at the two that had been in the front of the van. “Well, that was quite a bumpy ride,” I offered with a small smile however the tension was still strong in the air as one began to walk away.
“This way,” the second one said as I sighed and followed. These guards were totally rays of sunshine, note the sarcasm. We entered the cave which seemed to stretch as an impossibly long tunnel.
“Where in the One Republic are we?” I asked. I had never read about something like this existing after the Last War.
The guard that was right in front of me actually glanced back in my direction before looking ahead. “You’re at the Bending Academy,” he replied. We had arrived at some sort of door as the first guard ran an ID through and had his eye scanned I was simply impressed that this was some sort of Academy.
“An Academy?” I repeated. So this was a school, just like the Seer Academy my brothers had been sent off to. I hope there wasn’t a lot of homework for even though I enjoyed researching and learning about history I didn’t like to work on pointless assignments.
