The P.O.E. & a Gateway in the Basement

Chapter Twenty

Once Rebecca is inside her own dimension she sees that Jacob & Britney are in the middle of killing the zombies that they left behind. So she joins in on the fun and begins to take off a couple zombie heads. This time it is a little bit easier because the zombies are walking around, instead of climbing out of their own graves.

"I wish that everything supernatural is as easy to kill as zombies. They are just so slow and stupid." Jacob takes another zombie's head. Even he is beginning to understand that he is actually very talented at killing supernatural beings.

"So the headmaster was right about you two." Rebecca beheads the final two zombies and then re-sheaths her sword.

"What was he right about?" Britney has a small knife in her left hand dripping with undead blood. But she really wishes that she did not lose her crossbow when she was being taken in Hell.

"That both of you have a lot of potential." Rebecca is finally pleased with Jacob & Britney and how far they have grown up in a couple of days. All three of them exit the basement led by Jacob. Rebecca takes the rear. Once Rebecca gets outside the apartment complex she realizes that Balthazar has Jacob in his tight grip with his sword being held in place against Jacob's chest cavity.

"Well... well... well... nice meeting you once again... you bitch! However this time will be different. You have only me to deal with. But you don't have anybody to back you up this time neither. So I guess that you will have to fight me by yourself. Are you up for the challenge?" Balthazar's Gateway might be closing but that does not mean that he does not have the upper hand at the present moment.

"You want to know something... I have actually been dying to fight you one-on-one." Rebecca unsheathes her sword once again. Sometimes she wonders why she ever bothers putting her sword away. "Ever since I saw Brett sword-fight you with out many difficulties... I figure that all the hype I have been hearing about how powerful you supposed to be must have all been a sham. From where I am standing you aren't all that powerful." Rebecca gloats. She loves having an opportunity to get underneath any supernatural being's skin.

"Since you speak so highly of the guy I was fighting let me tell you what happened after you left. I killed him and then on my way to exit through the gateway before it got sealed shut... I run into another member of your team and I killed him too." Balthazar is far better at mind games than Rebecca will ever be. "Apparently... you field agents aren't as strong as you think you are... especially when you are by yourselves." Rebecca gets very heated by that comment about Brett & Nick. So she decides that attacking Balthazar right now would please her very much. But she sees Jacob's left index finger swaying back and forth. She thinks that he is trying to say don't attack, so she stands her ground instead. At first she does not have any idea why Jacob wants to do something himself. Balthazar has him captive with a sword around his chest and yet he is telling her to pull back. She knows that he is getting better, but he is not that good yet... or is he? Jacob pulls out his sword quickly and quietly; while Balthazar is still being occupied by the heated conversation that he is still having with Rebecca. He then takes his sword, swings it from his right side to his left side. The blade part of the sword quickly goes through Balthazar's neck. Jacob is about as surprised as everybody else. He can not believe that he made that sword go all the way around like that it is a very difficult maneuver to perfect and then hitting your target... priceless. The grasp upon Jacob is let go of as Balthazar steps backwards a few steps. He out of all of them can not believe that Jacob actually pulled that off. He drops his sword and it falls upon the sidewalk with a clatter. He grabs his neck with both of his hands, knowing that he is going back to Hell for awhile he falls to his knees. His head then finally falls off of his neck and hits the pavement and as his head rolls in one direction his body falls backwards. Jacob runs towards Britney and squeezes her knowing that it is over. Rebecca on the other hand walks over towards Balthazar's headless corpse.
