The music was almost deafening as we enter the club. Flashing neon colored lights being the only source of luminescence as we weave through a seemingly endless sea of drunken people dancing along to 'Evacuate the Dance floor' by Cascada. I wasn't known to be claustrophobic, but I almost felt trapped as I tried to keep up with Penny as she hopped along with the crowd until we found a small clearing. I was thankful that I only put on light makeup and plenty of deodorant as I already began to feel a bit warm from all the bustling in the building. Penny, not even breaking a sweat, started to bounce to the beat and laughs as she sees how stiff I am.

"Come on, Lil. Relax! We're here to have fun, so start dancing!" She yells and I soon become infected by her carefree attitude as I start to dance along with her.

Minutes grow into hours as Penny and I, sing and dance like it was our last moments. Finally, I couldn't dance any longer without taking some sort of break as I feel the sweat accumulating on my temple. "I'm gonna run to the restroom and maybe grab a drink."

"Ooh! Drinks sound good! Let's go!" She cheers and we weave our way towards the restroom.

After a few short minutes, we manage to get inside and Penny went for an open stall while I headed to the sinks. I glance at the mirror to see my makeup was slightly smudged and I grab a paper towel before dampening it with cool water. As I try to cool myself down and wipe off some of the sweat, I jump as the bathroom door slams open and a man stumbles in. I could only stay frozen in slight shock as he rushes in to the nearest empty stall and I hear the lock click just before another man comes in red faced and clearly as drunk as the other. Utterly livid and intoxicated, the larger man trudges to the stalls and slams his fist against one. I gasp as I hear Penny shriek on the other side and I twist my body towards the stalls as my heart drops.

"Come out asshole! Nobody kisses my girl and lives to tell the tale!" He roars and bangs his fist once more, nearly making a dent into the metal door.

I look down at the bottom of the stall next her and I see the cowardly male silently begging me as he shakes his head. My annoyance bubbles as I couldn't believe of all nights this is one of the last things I'd ever expected or want to deal with. I grab my phone, and push my legs forward when my mind screams for me to run away and get help.

"Hey!" I shout as I walk over to the brute, " Listen, I don't know what's going on, but you're in the women's bathroom, harassing my friend in there. Beat it, before I call the cops!" I say as I already had the stations number pulled up and was ready to press the call button.

" Stay out of this, bitch!" He roars and he put his hand on me.

Without even thinking, I grabbed his arm and twisted it behind his back. Pushing up against his bent arm to the point his face twisted in discomfort, then just barely nudge it up further.

"Listen, your buddy ain't here, so get out!" I growl as I walk him out the door and kick him to the ground.

Closing the door behind me, I could feel my hands tremble as the adrenaline was crashing down, and I sigh. I surprised myself, and I can't even recall myself thinking in those short minutes as the memory is blurred. I stared ahead for a moment, trying to reclaim my stature, but the bitter truth whispers in the back of my mind. I grow irritated and finally I drag myself out my thoughts and focus on the task at hand. Walking back to the stalls, I lightly knock on the dented door.

"Penny, are you alright?"

The door flies open and Penny hugs me, tear dampening my shoulder. "Oh my God! I thought that psycho was gonna kill me! Are you okay? He didn't hurt you did he?!"

" No, luckily I still remember a few tricks from self-defense training back in high school." I smiled in relief and my attention turned towards the next stall. "Hey, you, come out!"

Slowly a tall man with dirty blonde hair stumbles out and he looks shocked as I stare him down.

" Um, thanks for that. I swear, I didn't try anything with that girl! I already have a girlfriend!"

"Yeah, sure... Come on Penny, I think we should get going."

"What?! No! We haven't even had any drinks yet!" She says and I look at her in disbelief.

" Are you serious? We just got lucky with that little stunt I pulled!" I gasp and the door bursts open again and two other men run in.

"Austin! Man, are you alright? We just heard what happened!"

"Sorry man, I can't believe that happened!"

"Well, y'all two are lucky that someone actually helped me or else I'd be haunting the both of you for not saving me! I almost died!" Austin yells at his friends before turning to us.

"I'm sorry for the scare, and thank you. You really are a life saver, Miss..."

"Robins. Now if y'all will excuse us, we're leaving." I said sternly and before we could leave, one of them stops us.

"Wait! Look, it's our fault for not watching the guy that your night was ruined. Please, let us buy you a drink and some food, as an apology." He said as I had to look up to meet his gaze.

Blue eyes, with deep dark brown tresses and some slight stubble around the jawline. I felt my annoyance fade a little as I heard the regret in his low voice, and I could at least be a bit more polite. He was attractive, no doubt about it, but I'm not going to let myself be swayed by good looks and the promise of free food.

Just as I was about to politely decline the offer, Penny covers my mouth and grins. "Sounds like a fair deal to me! We'd like that."

"Lovely, then let's go get us some seats and ask the bartender whatever you like." He smiles as him and his friends turn to exit the bathroom.

I look back at Penny in discontent and she shrugs. "Come on! Free food and drinks from a couple of hot guys and one stupid friend. What's the harm in that? Please?!" She begs and I sigh.

"Fine... but one drink! One drink and we're going, alright?" I say, but in the back of my mind I knew that won't be the outcome that I hoped.
