Drew's POV
It was another Friday night. Henry and Liam were at my house for a sleepover. Jake was arriving a bit later due to rehearsals, but he's still coming. We played on my xbox, and that's when we all started chattering. "So Jake is coming over a bit later. He has rehearsals, but he's still coming!" I smiled while notifying the others what the plan was. "Hey Drew, I have a question..." Henry said hesitantly as if he wasn't sure if he should ask or not. "What is it?" I replied.
"Do you perhaps have feelings for Jake?" He asked. I looked away from them. I'm not sure why he would ask such a silly question, though. "No, I don't have a crush on Jake," I sighed.
"Are you sure. You only smile when he's around, and when he isn't around, you get annoyed. He brings out the best in you!" Henry argued. He did have a good point, though. Whenever Jake isn't around, I always feel so irritated. "I'm positive. Besides, I'm dating Zoey." I scoffed. "You never have any interest in Zoey. You always pay more interest in Jake than you do with her." Liam noticed. "You know what! Fine. Maybe I do like Jake. Maybe there's just something about him that makes me happy? I don't know! I just... I hate it!" I snapped. The other two looked at each other and smiled. "Why are you guys looking at each other like that?" I asked.
"Operation Drake is a go!" Henry whispered.
Suddenly, that's when I heard a knock on my front door. "JAKE'S HERE!!" I cheered. I raced downstairs and all the way to my front door to greet Jake."Jake! Finally, you're here!" I smiled, trying to keep my cool in front of him. "Hey, Drew! How are you?" Jake grinned. Just looking at him, grinning made my heart race. "I'm good thanks, how are you?" I mumbled. "I'm good too, thanks! Rehearsals went well!" Jake beamed with excitement. "That's good to hear. Just know that I may not like the music club however I will go to this competition just for your sake, " I murmured. "Thanks, Drew. I really appreciate the support from you and the others!" Jake exclaimed.
A few hours later.
We all decided to go to the mall and go shopping for things. I lived walking distance to a mall, so it was fine. While we were walking, I noticed Henry and Liam went up ahead. "Gosh, those two are so quick!" I complained, wondering how they had so much energy, they were like little kids. "Yeah, they're too fast for me as well," Jake giggled. Just watching him smile made my heart race again and made my face heat up. "So Jake, when is the competition again? I asked. Jake calculated in his head how much longer until the competition day. "About 3 weeks, I think, maybe just under," he replied.
"Oh, cool! I can't wait to watch you!" I smiled. He grinned and nodded at me. "Yeah, I can't wait for you guys to hear my singing!"
At the mall.
We walked inside the mall and had a look around at a few shops before stopping to get some boba tea. "What flavour are you getting, Jake?" I asked.
"Mango bubble tea," he said with no hesitation. "Damn, you didn't even hesitate," I joked.
"Oh yeah, mango is my go-to when coming here," he laughed.
"You come here often?" I asked.
"Well yeah, I come here with the club. Hailey is obsessed with boba, so we come here a lot. Her obsession is pretty bad to the point where the workers recognise us4 fact, we know the workers on a first name basis, " Jake laughed. As Jake was ordering the boba, one of the workers looked at us. "I'm surprised you're not here with the music club," they giggled. "Ah yeah, these are some other good friends of mine! I've known them since freshman, Magenta haired guy is Drew, he's my best friend, the green one is Henry and the one wearing red is Liam." Jake explained.
"Are these the other friends you've mentioned? The ones who don't get along with the music club?" The worker asked as Jake nodded.
After a bit of them chatting, everyone stopped being distracted, and when I say everyone, I mean Jake and the workers. I got myself a honeydew flavour. Henry got Matcha, Liam got Strawberry, and Jake got mango. After we got our drinks, we continued our shopping journey.
A while later.
The shops were closing so we called it a day and walked back to my house. We bought some popcorn while we were shopping, so we all agreed to cook it up and then watch a movie on Netflix. We set up the air mattress out in the living room and watched a movie. Henry and Liam fell asleep really quickly, so it was just me and Jake awake. We started talking for a bit after the movie, and then we fell asleep.
The next day.
I was the first one awake, so I surprised everyone with pancakes. I knew how to make them since I learnt how to cook at a young age. Jake was the first one to wake up out of the three. "Good morning, sleeping head~" I teased.
"Good morning Drew, wow you're cooking pancakes? They smell so good! How did you learn how to cook?" Jake asked. "Well, for starters, pancakes are easy to make. Anyone can make pancakes. Second... I learnt how to cook at a young age due to my parents being busy and going on business trips and stuff like that, " I explained.
"Oh, I see," Jake whispered.
"I was thinking we should go to the park when everyone is up and ready, what do you say?" I smiled.
"Yeah, sure! I'd be down for that!" Jake agreed.
Eventually, we woke up Henry and Liam. We ate our pancakes and got ready to go to the park. When we got to the park, that's when we heard the ice cream truck music. "You guys up for some ice cream?" I asked.
"Yes, please!" Everyone replied in sync. I had vanilla icecream, Jake got strawberry flavoured, same with Liam. Henry got chocolate flavoured. We sat on a bench and ate our ice creams. "It's a nice day outside, isn't it?" Henry smiled, trying to start a conversation.
"I agree!" Liam grinned as he placed his arm around Henry. "Those two are so lovey dovey it makes me sick," I said mockingly. After we all ate our ice creams and walked around the park, we went back to my house.
After getting back.
We played on my xbox, and we ate lunch. After lunch, we did a bit more gaming, and then everyone had to leave. Jake was the last one to leave, and it was sad when he had to leave. "See you at school then, Jake," I smiled.
"Yeah, bye, Drew!" He grinned. After a long day, I went back to my room and flopped myself onto my bed.
