"Revenge is a confession of pain" - Latin Proverb

THIRD PERSON ▪︎ POV
Saiph hurried down the white, shining marble hallway, past the towering pillars and all the way up to Castiel's chamber doors.
Many stood milling outside, held back from entering by the huge beast positioned threateningly in front of the towering arch. Castiel's pet lion took up a protective stance, making it clear that no one was getting in or out without his consent.
The guards kept their distance, ushering worried onlookers back, reassuring them that their god would be fine. Although Castiel's cries of rage and the sounds of breaking furniture echoing down the hall was not soothing in the slightest.
Saiph worried his bottom lip, his heart aching with concern. He also felt sympathy for the god and hated that his outburst was being heard by others. He hated that Castiel's privacy had been breached.
With that in mind, Saiph rushed closer to the chaos, using his strong wings to push himself forwards. He managed to gently body his way around the other angels who worked within the palace.
He reached a fellow Seraphim guard and told him to move the crowd as far away from Castiel's quarters as possible, stressing the importance of giving the god space. It wouldn't do if Castiel felt trapped.
The angels nodded and followed his orders without question, trusting the higher ranking angel, quickly pushing the curious spectators back and away from the doors. Finally, Saiph's only barrier was the lion.
Aciel was a large beast, though he was kept as a loving pet. It was rare that he and Castiel ever parted, so the fact that Castiel had pushed the lion away was not lost on Saiph. He knew that what ever was going on with Castiel was bad.
Aciel tensed the closer Saiph stepped, his large teeth bared in a snarl of warning, but Saiph didn't miss the anxiety in Aciel's eyes. His large mane shook, the fluffy, white fur catching the light.
"It's okay," Saiph whispered softly, showing his palms in a non-threatening motion. "I want to help him. He's hurting isn't he?"
The lion whined, dropping his lips and covering his teeth, making Saiph's thumping heart steady a little as the immediate threat of attack lessened. He inched closer.
"I promise I'll try and make him feel better. You're such a good boy keeping him safe. Such a good boy," Saiph praised, offering his hands and the lion stepped forward on powerful fore legs, pressing his large head into Saiph's palms. He was still tense, but his tail, which was previously ram-rod straight, softened and began to sway.
Saiph smiled, bending and kissing Aciel's forehead. "I'll tell him that you've been the bestest boy. I'll tell him you've looked after him and then maybe, he'll let you back in for cuddles. But you have to let me past. Keep guard for me?" He scratched gently behind the flickering ears sprouted through the fur.
Aciel whined again and reluctantly stepped to the side, nudging Saiph past. Then, he took up his protective, attack mode stance once more, his electric blue eyes focused on the corridor, waiting for any threats.
"Thank you," Saiph whispered at the poor animal before taking a deep breath, readying himself to face Castiel and whatever state the god had worked himself up into. Not bothering to knock on the intimidating doors, Saiph gripped one of the gold, lion shaped knockers and pushed the heavy wood open.
He slipped through the small gap and closed it again behind him, eyes wide. Castiel was sat on the floor, his tattered bed sheets scattered around him, feathers wafting through the air and settling around him like fresh snow. The smashed flower vases and the wilted plants Castiel had previously lovingly looked after scattered on the floor in smashed pieces.
