I'm back with an update, thank you for reading the first chapter, Thank you to everyone who read it, This chapter takes place three years after the previous one, and I am soooooo grateful to all of you who read the first chapter. I never thought anyone besides me and a few of my Merlin obsessed friends would read this so THANK YOU! This chapter was beta'd by HiddenonPluto, she has some great reading lists you should look at.

Dad was dead. Lancelot was dead. Elyan was dead. Arthur stopped caring. Gaius got too busy. Merlin ran away and never really came back. Morgana has left. After Lancelot died merlin and Arthur were talking behind a tent. No one heard their conversation only Arthur yelling. They claim that merlin ran out from behind the tent, packed his things, and went back home. Both men came back with red faces and tear stains on their faces. Then, the next week, Arthur found Merlin, and they were married. Most everyone except the knights was surprised, but everyone was happy. I was happy too until they lost time for me. My friends and all that I had left, left me. After they stopped caring they targeted me. The noble I had been serving as a maidservant was perfectly happy with me, but they demoted me to kitchen staff. One night I walked into the woods, tired and seeking a little time with dad when I was ambushed. They weren't Camelot guards; they wore black and used magic. I was slammed against a tree and before I knew what was happening Black clouded my vision.

----------

"If it's not the King's favorite maidservant." A voice rang out, sarcastic.

"Morgana?"

I look up from the haze in my vision. She sat there on her black throne.

"Gwen."

I look up to see her. She's wearing a black dress and her hair is crazier than it had been in years. Despite myself, I smile. Morgana looks at me like I'm deranged, I probably am. I look around the throne room but see no one around Morgana. Where were her cronies? Obviously, the guards that had brought me here but what about the close one? The one that would spy or add to her personality. She didn't have one because she had been abandoned too.

"What are you up to? Guards, check the outer wall for Arthur and his men."

"They wouldn't risk their lives for a maidservant."

"Yes, but Guinevere, you are more than a maidservant."

I look up and stare directly into her eyes. "No, I'm not."

She gives me a peculiar expression and raises a hand at the guards leaving the room. "Never mind, don't waste your energy. Lock this prisoner up."

I stand up and am escorted to my cell. There is no furniture just straw laying around the bottoms. I hear the key in the lock as I am locked inside. No sooner, do I hear loud footsteps down the hall?

"I would like to talk with the prisoner. Leave."

I look up at Morgana. We were truly alone.

"Why are you doing this Morgana? I'm of no use to you now. Why do you hate me? Whatever you thought I'd do, whatever destiny you think I had, It's gone! I am not going to be Queen like you prophesized, I don't want to be if I can be forgotten that quickly."

"I know. I was wrong, you won't be Queen of Camelot, your destiny has changed. I never forgot about you."

"I know. You said my destiny changed, is that why you want me here? To gloat? To recruit?"

I flinched back, suddenly aware of what I had said. Why had I suggested she recruit me? I wouldn't accept if she did, right? I think back to when I had backstabbed her, letting Leon out of prison and helping him escape. After all this, would I still help him out, or would I have stayed loyal to Morgana? I think and I know the answer, bright and clear. I would have stayed loyal. The thought should have hurt, but not really. Morgana had still been kind to her when she was Queen. It was like when she was younger. Before Arthur even had Merlin. Morgana and my bond have been throughout at least 20 years, all of them a little strange. A strange middle between friends and....... A bit more. Of course, it could have been just been me. Morgana was entirely oblivious and entirely straight. Me dreaming of being her queen. I shake my head.

".....Yes. As I said, your destiny has changed."

"So you don't care. You didn't remember! As soon as my destiny become something of use to you, you started hunting me."

"No Gwen, I never forgot but what was I supposed to do? As far as I know, everyone in Camelot hates magic and hates me! And then you betrayed me."

"Of course I betrayed you, Morgana, You have been lying to me for 20 years! You threatened me, you hurt me, and you were turning on everyone that I thought you loved. I thought I was next."

"You weren't. I thought you were done with me. I could never hurt you."

"Keeping me chained up in a cell isn't a great way to recruit me."

"I'm not recruiting you, Gwen. I'm asking for your help."

"That's the same exact thing."

"When I'm asking for help, you can turn away."

"Turning around is hard when you're in a cell."

"I have the key, It's your decision."

I shake my head. "I'll do it."

Morgana looked shocked for a moment like I shouldn't have been this easy to sway. "Why? You still seem angry at me for leaving, I'm not in your good books, and I haven't used magic. So why?"

"Maybe it's nice to be wanted?"

"You're joining an army against everyone you've known your entire life. The side that uses magic which you have been taught is evil because you're lonely?"

"I'm leaving for the same reason you did. Nobody cares about me over there anymore, no one will again. Once I join here I'll just be another enemy to defeat, like you are now."

"Gwen, not to be rude, but don't you think you're overreacting? I mean, you could just find new friends......."

"I tried, but the ones that didn't avoid me like a plague always ended up with them leaving or getting appointed to a job and then forgetting about me."

"You're sure you're not overreacting?"

"Yes. Are you trying to get me to leave?"

"Okay, just thought you would take more convincing."

"Maybe I need a friend who won't leave."

She looks at me curiously then takes a key. The hinge creaks open and I walk out. I don't run, I simply look her in the eyes.

"Let's get you some food."
