I've basically hit writer's block. I also can't write fluff to save my life. That's where my lovely Beta came in, This chapter is only good because HiddenOnPluto came in and made it that way. I would also like to thank EllaMalone, The fact that you cared about my story enough to leave a comment and vote on it helped me get through this chapter. now please enjoy the storrrrry...
I woke up squinting through the sunlight. My fingers grip the soft bed. The very soft bed. I sat up and examined it. It's fit for a queen, but it's definitely not mine. This bed is too. . . dark. I swing my legs over the bed and walk out of the door. The hallways outside seem like a maze, and it'll take me longer than hoped to find Morgana. Except, she's already pacing outside my door.
"Hello Morgana, why are you here?"
"I was about to knock when you came out," she explains quickly. I raised an eyebrow, but I don't comment.
"Okay, would you like to get some breakfast?"
"Yes. That would be lovely." Morgana trots ahead of me, speaking to her guard, who immediately scurries away and down the hall. Morgana and I sit across each other, avoiding the awkward tension. My gaze flits to her face. Green eyes sit above black clouds. Had she been sleeping properly? It appears she hadn't had a good night's sleep in a while.
I open my mouth to express my concerns, but a knock drawls me away. A guard enters the room, setting down two trays of food, and promptly leaving.
We both begin to eat, purposefully avoiding each other's eyes.
"Why did you start dating Arthur?" Morana asks, setting down her fork.
"What?"
"Arthur? We could all see the thing he and Merlin had. Why did you date him?"
"I didn't think anyone else would ever take me." Morgana pursed her lips at this.
"So, you went for a king? I think someone else would've been happy to be with you. Do you think they might've been too scared to say anything? That they thought you didn't care!" Her voice had risen slightly, and her demeanor had grown harder.
"Of course I cared! But everyone decided a crown was more important than me. I didn't get to decide."
"You are worth more than a crown." Her chair slid out from under her as she leaped from her chair. I jumped as it clanged against the floor. "Yet the other person could never have you, no matter how much they wanted to. So, you went ahead and courted a King."
"Prince," I murmur.
"Either way, how was the other person going to have you? You were so much happier with Arthur. Whenever the person was there with you, you and Arthur would be smiling together."
"Maybe the reason the person only ever caught us smiling is because the person was there to make us smile. I never loved Arthur, Morgana." She freezes, her eyes finally meeting mine. My hands curl around the table as I raise myself up. Her green orbs follow mine as I lean forward slowly. I see her copy my movements, but then straighten back up, and rediverting her eyes.
"We should start," she presses. I lowered my gaze. "You still have a long way to go before you can properly use magic."
"Of course," I agree quickly. I move to clear the table and then stop. "Sorry."
She laughs, "Don't apologize. But you don't need to do that anymore." she says, pointing at the plates. I nod, though it still didn't feel right. Even as a queen in Camelot I tried to help the servants whenever I could.
