Hey y'all ! I decided to write this small one shot to see what would happen if Seri stayed in NK a bit longer. From my previous fics, you may have realized that I am not one for a concrete plot, choosing to string together small moments rather than create a larger work, but I tried my best with this, so I hope you enjoy. Comment down below and let me know what you think! Thank you to RavenMague, Shutterbug, and ItsPbjellytime for listening to my endless complaints, y'all are real ones.... Stay safe everyone xx
She decided to stay with him in the North, after he told her it was him at the lake, the sheer weight of his admission tying her to him, the red string of fate the inextricable cord that linked them given the unprecedented circumstances. She was an heiress, yes, but what did it bring her other than monetary gain? The price of her success isolated herself from her family, her friends, and loved ones. In Seoul she was surrounded with everything she could hope for, luxury cars, apartments, and clothes, but still she came home every night, with the gnawing feeling of emptiness, the distinct hollowness that could never be filled as passed her insomnia ridden nights.
He reluctantly brought her papers, unable to admit that she would be with him forever, that their attraction to each other was no longer ephemeral and clandestine, that he could proudly hold her as his. With Cho Choel Gang taken into custody after wrongfully tipping off the military direction, his father's status and prestige was finally of use to him, and they were able to forge documents for her that would provide her with enough security to live in the North unharmed for the time being.
When they came back home, to their home now as they would call it, he led her to the bedroom, a rare sheepish smile graces his face when he realized the bed was too small. He wanted her to take the bed, adamant that he would be "fine" on the ground, flustered all of a sudden by his sudden lack of accommodations. He had never in his life felt inadequate, until this moment, the stark difference of their upbringings, their nationalities, their comforts coming into existence, materializing around them like a thick cloud of tension in the air. But she was quick to dismiss it, with a shy smile, suggesting they share the bed, careful not to meet his gaze in the chance he declines her offer. He wasn't one to deny her though, for with her, he was like a moth to a flame, drawn to her no matter where she went, and with the tips of his ears burning a fantastic shade of pink, he solemnly agreed before joining her in his narrow bed.
She turned to face him, her warm breath fanning in his face. Through the darkness of the room, she observed the outline of his profile, the sharp angle of his nose, the slight pout of his fuller bottom lip. She could see the wheels turning in his head, the restlessness marring his normally pristine features even in his sleep, and hesitantly with her delicate hand, she traced the slope of his nose, the curvature of his lips, before grazing over his sharp jawline. He awoke from her ministrations but chose to stay silent, waiting for what else was ruminating on her mind...
"You may think you have nothing to offer me Ri Jeonghyeok-ssi, but you took care of me, ate with me, laughed with, and protected me, even when you didn't have to, even when it would endanger your life. This bed, this house, and you are more than enough for me, it's everything I could have ever hoped for and I - I love you for that," she breathed in a quiet whisper, her voice soft enough to make it seem she was talking to herself, but he heard every pause, every word, every phrase.
Turning to face her, he could see her surprise, the pinkish hue tinging her cheeks evident even in the stillness of the night, but when she looked at him, she saw the gleam of his unshed tears in his eyes, the turmoil brewing in his mind, the moonlight reflecting the emotions in his pupils. He brought a hand to her cheek, marveling how even in the dark how smooth her skin was, and expelled a long breath, one that he was holding for far too long, before molding his mouth to hers. The kiss was languid, and slow, their tongues dancing deliciously against each other, their lips melting like a slow burn brewing from underneath. They took their time, exploring the crevices of each other's mouths, her small hands working their way up to cup his angular face, the heat of his cheeks radiating into her soft palms, while his hands traveled along the length of her curves to pull her close.
