“She’s trying.” Draco looked at his mother pleadingly. “She really is. Just… be nice to her."
Narcissa looked at her son, searching his expression. Her son cared deeply for about this and unlike his father, it was a little more difficult to refuse him.

"Very well.” She said turning away.
“Thank you.” She heard the relief in Draco’s voice as well as hope.

You were passing my Lucius and Narcissa’s bedroom before hearing a frustrated sigh.

You knocked on the door gently. “Mrs Malfoy? Are you okay?” You peeked around the ajar door. Narcissa sat at her vanity, her back to you. She was in a robe, her hair pulled back in it’s usual do to keep her hair from her face.

“I’m fine, dear.” Narcissa said passively. “I’m simply having a difficult day today and it seems the world isn’t on my side.”
“What’s the problem if you don’t mind my asking?” Narcissa sighed again. “I have an event to attend with Lucius tonight.

My sister gave me the wrong time and so I have had less time than planned to get ready.” Narcissa’s mouth twisted as though annoyed at the memory alone. “Now I can’t seem to find an appropriate and satisfactory look.

My make up must be pristine and I simply cannot think of a look that matches with that dress.” Narcissa turned to face you, not quite making eye contact and instead pointing at the dress that hung over the door of the wardrobe by the hanger.

"It’s beautiful.“ Your eyes wandered over the dress.
"Thank you but it won’t be worn if I can’t find a suitable look.” She said bitterly. “How long do you have?”

“Forty-five minutes.” She said in frustration. “I’m known for taking my time with my looks in this family and no one respects it!”
“Would you like me to do your make-up?” She looked at you this time, her eyes running up and down you as though inspecting you.

Draco’s request rushed to her head. “She’s trying, she really is…be nice to her.” “I suppose it wouldn’t hurt.” Narcissa said stiffly.

You nodded and immediately jumped into action, looking at Narcissa’s sprawled out make-up products.
“Is there anything in particular you want?” You asked picking up a brush.

“I’ll leave that to you. Just don’t make me look like a fool.” She said icily and noticed your wince. It wasn’t her intention to seem so harsh so she quickly continued in a lighter tone. “I trust you. You seem to know your way around such things.”
You cracked a smile. “Thank you, Mrs Malfoy.”

“You’re marrying my son in the next year or so, call me Narcissa.”
You nodded with a small smile before getting to work.
“So you’ve had a difficult day?” You asked, starting with concealer.
She sighed. “Draco has told you of my sister Bellatrix, yes?”
“Yeah, he’s mentioned her but I don’t know anything about her.” You responded. “Well, I warn you now. She can be rather eccentric, it even intimidates me at times.

Anyway, she was never one for planning or time management. She told me that I should be there by nine tonight. However Lucius said the event was starting at seven thirty. Bella got the time wrong and I’m left here to rush at quarter past six. I like to take my time getting ready, and perfecting my look. However it’s hard concentrate when your husband squawks to hurry up every five minutes and has no patience. He’s a stubborn man, my husband, but he’s going to be a dead man if he rushes me anymore.”
