As the rugged boats stay afloat and glided amongst the dark waters of the lake, I couldn't help but extend my dainty fingers to feel the frigid water that led us towards the castle. My long, black, almond shaped nails skimmed the water, making a small ripple amidst the still layer of the gloomy basin. The light of the full moon reflected on my silver ring which sat snug on my ring finger. The emerald shone bright and the moonlight against the silver made the ring stand out more. We finally reached the castle and I carefully stepped out before pounding my heel on the pavement. I extended my arm out to Daisy, leading to her grasping it and freeing herself from the small but mighty raft as she was quite clumsy. That resulted in us usually walking hand in hand or with our arms hooked, although she was quite talented on broomstick.

We both stood among the group of first years as we were the only transfers. Transfer students were already very untrusted as they were extremely rare, and I wasn't expecting many people to welcome us with open arms. But again, I digress. I need to get a hold of myself. I could tell Daisy was way more nervous, and although she is quite friendly, she often lets her nerves get the best of her. She was doubtful of people, but I know she'll love the school. It seemed quite prestigious, and she was quite the stickler for prestige. She was very smart and elegant, opposed to myself.

My train of thought was then interrupted by the scamper of the first year's small feet stomping up the stairs. I grab Daisy's hand and give it a reassuring squeeze, locking our fingers together. We hustled up the stairs alongside the baby looking things, our longer legs reaching the top before them. If I'm being honest, they were a bit adorable even though I usually hate children. One particular girl caught my eyes. Her chubby cheeks sat like mountains on her smooth, dark face, making her look like a squirrel stocking up for the upcoming winter. Her hair sat atop her head in small braids. I gave her cheek a pinch as she smiled nervously at me. The poor girl wore her heart on her sleeve; the worry in her features was prominent.

I knelt down a bit until I was level with her and whispered, "Don't worry, you'll be just fine." before finding my feet and straightening out again, continuing my ravenous steps until everyone slowed down, which I followed.

When we got inside the actual castle, the smell of warmth immediately collided with my nose. A. older woman approached us, her emerald robes flowing as she stepped closer forming a pool by her shoes where she stood.

"I'd like to assume you ladies both are aware of the workings of the houses considering that you are here right now, yes?" She questioned, her voice proud and stoic, accentuating each syllable with precision. Her head craned towards the left and her eyebrows lifted, looking at us expectantly.

"Yes, professor." Daisy chimed, earning her a curt nod from the woman.

She then went on to elaborate the workings of the house system, which I promptly tuned out. I had already known enough about how this works, I don't think I'll be needing to hear anymore.
