"I used to move to the groove only when I liked them, But now I'm following other people. Will my taste change also?"
-
Finally school had finished for the day. Instead of my usual routine, I walked towards the restroom. Earlier Jeongin suddenly left the class, looking as pale as a ghost. It wasn't really like him to leave during class.
He seemed perfectly fine before?
The bathroom was silent, until I heard a noise. Was someone crying? Of course I didn't want to barge in so I just chose a random stall. The more I listened, the more the voice sounded familiar. I hesitated between saying something or keeping quiet, well until I got a text message.
"Seungmin! where are you? I can't find you."
She's here already?
I quickly wrote,
"I had to stay after class again, I'm coming, don't worry :)"
I got out of the stall, hoping I got Jeongin's attention. Unusual thing for me to want, but I was worried dead for him. Luckily, I heard him come out after a few minutes. He must've remembered that I was going to be hanging out with him today. I walked out to the parking lot, footsteps following. I looked back to seen a surprisingly worn out Jeongin. "You okay?" I asked once he caught up to me.
"Yeah, we can talk about it once we make it to your house." He gave a light smile to me. I smiled back, though worried. Me and Jeongin both got in the back and buckled up, giving each other a look once we heard our favorite song, Back Door, playing. I felt some relief after seeing Jeongin genuinely smile again. We both then jammed out the whole entire ride.
I'm glad that our school wasn't far from the school, since it seemed that Jeongin felt urgent about whatever he was thinking. Me and him instantly made our way to my room. I placed my backpack near my door and sat on the floor with Jeongin. "So what's going on?"
He hesitated before saying something, "I don't really know how to say this... but, I've been getting these urges all of a sudden today."
Urges?
I furrowed my eyebrows, "What kind of urges?" I cautiously asked.
"They're not any bad urges, just strange ones. Really strange ones." I nodded along. "I've been feeling so hungry and empty, but I don't know why. It began last week, and it hasn't stopped. It's been getting worse and I think it got to my head today."
"Wait, so... were you the one crying in the stall?" Once Jeongin's eyes widened, I knew I probably should've kept my mouth shut.
"How'd you know I was in the stalls? Were you spying again?"
"Maybe?"
"Seungmin! You know how much we don't like that!" Jeongin complained. Yeah, I really needed to fix that problem.
"I know, I know. I couldn't help myself this time though!" I tried defending myself a bit.
Jeongin sighed, looking right into my eyes. "Seungmin, I'm worried.." He looked like he wanted to cry again, but held back.
"It's okay, we'll find what's going on.." I got closer and gave him a much needed hug.
"You're an amazing friend, Seungmin." Jeongin said quietly. I smiled and hugged more, until Jeongin let go. He made a strange face of disgust, which left me confused.
"You okay, Jeongin?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, it's just that my mouth tastes like metal."
What? Metal? Something's seriously not right.
"Metal? Let's.. get you some water.." I noted. Jeongin desperately nodded and followed me down to the kitchen. I filled up a cup for us both and sat at the couch, where Jeongin arrived (adorably) right behind me. I smiled and chuckled at the little run he did. Whenever he got to the couch, I noticed that he began biting on his finger. I looked around and was pleased to see a basket of candy laying on the desk in front of the couch. "Do you taste anything?" I asked while grabbing a piece for both of us.
He made the same disgusted face, "It still tastes like metal!" He complained. I gave him the candy this time. He ate it, making a surprised expression. "I think I taste something?" He looked back at me confused. To be honest, I was lost too.
How does he only taste things whenever it's food? Or sweets?
Our thoughts paused once we heard a knock on the door. I looked through the little peephole. It was Chan! I opened the door and opened, smiling. "Hey Chan!" A loud gasp was heard, must've been Jeongin.
Chan smiled,"Hey! Can we talk maybe?"
"Yeah, sure!" I moved out of the way so he could get in. "What's up?" I asked as we made our way to the couch. I noticed Jeongin giving a little wave to him, grinning.
Chan returned the wave before answering, "It's about Felix. He's been acting strange lately, like not himself."
Jeongin looked at me before looking back at Chan. "How's he acting?" Jeongin asked instead.
"He's been all over me recently. He keeps on hugging and loving all over me, but not like how he usually does. And whenever I look into his eyes, I don't see him, I see someone else." Jeongin looked like he just saw a dead body. I looked over to him as in a way of telling him "it's okay" and decided to reply this time.
"I think I understand."
"Really?" Chan looked at me, shocked.
I nodded, "Jeongin has been like that as well. He's not feeling all lovey-dovey, but more just hungry? It's still him though, I can tell whenever I look into his eyes that it's still him." I glanced at him and his worried fox-like eyes.
"Oh no.." Chan mumbled. I looked back at him confused.
"What?"
"I feel like I know what's happening, but I'm not sure."
I gasped, "Really?"
"Yeah, but let's talk about that after we figure out what's going on with them two.."
I nodded in agreement, "I'm a little bit lost on Felix. Shouldn't we see what we're possibly getting ourselves into?" I suggested.
"Yeah, let's go." Chan, me, and Jeongin made our way out. I looked back at Jeongin who looked terrified. I held his hand hand whispered..
It's okay.
