The children from district 3 all filed in to the
center square, waiting to see if they would be the chosen one for the games this year.

Parents lined the outskirts, many weeping silently. The only sign of optimism in the area was coming from the capitol escort for district 3, Poppy Moth.  She beamed radiantly, looking excited to start the event. She probably was, considering it was a quarter quell this year.

For 100 years unlucky children were thrown in an arena and stripped of any moral value they had. Even those who came out alive never truly lived, they continued life with the burden and memory of what they went through. But none of that mattered to Poppy, her only worries were being demoted to a lower district, such as 11 or 12.

Her high pitched voice cut through the solemn air as she began the speech spoken every reaping. The capitol anthem and video played while the crowd of children watched on with no emotion, unlike Poppy who was gushing over the capitol.

Once it finished she stepped forward and said "ladies first." She plunged her hand into a fishbowl full of small pieces of paper that represented the lives of children. After a few seconds that felt like an eternity she pulled out a slip of paper. A hush fell over the crowd and her shrill voice rang out: "Aster Charlotte."

After that Poppy Moth said out loud in her high pitch valley girl voice "MoonStar Zodiac"

MoonStar and Aster walk up in worry some faces and with tears rolling down MoonStars face.

"Time for the boys!" Poppy Moth said back while walking towards the boys reaping bowl.

"Otis Pharrell and... Gus Maynard" Poppy Moth said while still unfolding the paper with Gus's name on it."
