Dark's point of view:
I watched from my seat in the leafless tree as Dusk threw rocks into the lake in anger, allowing her to get all her anger out.
It had been eighty-two years since I last saw her, the night I caught Jeff trying to stab her. Of course, none of us had aged, being immortals and all, but Dusk looked a bit older.
She now had bright blue bangs that were barley fading, and her eyes seemed to look as if they had seen death at work, slowly chipping away at her teenage personality.
I was snapped out of my daze as Dusk turned towards me and sighed. "I have a important matter that I need to talk to you about."
I jumped down to the ground and landed in front of Dusk, and we both sat down against the tree's trunk on the ground.
She looked sad as she looked me in the eyes. "I have a favor to ask of you. You're the only one I know who can do it."
"What is it, Dusk? You don't need to be worried about my reaction."
She slowly nodded, then said. "I need a personal knight for the next ten months, someone who can protect me and help me. A enemy is targeting me to kill me and take over the kingdom, even though they are of a different race. Can you do it?"
I nodded. "Of course I'll do it. But why the next ten months?"
She quickly looked away. "I'm pregnant. I need to be protected from the enemy until the baby is born and one month old."
Hey, guys, I hope you liked this first chapter! I know it's sort of short, I just thought it would be good to start with a cliff hanger, you know? Gets people excited for the book!
