As we walked through the halls and to our next class I see Draco, his eyes searching the crowd of people as he chats with his friends. His eyes continue to look around until they land on me, and stay on me, watching my every movements. I avoid eye contact as I look away, catching up to my friends. I sit down next to them and take out my notes. It was a exam day, not like the owls that we get in fifth year, which is in two years, but just an exam about what we learned this past month. Of course, I missed some of it because of Draco. If we get a 50 or below we fail the exam and have to face reading and studying to retake the quiz the next day. Luckily, I only missed a day or two so I should be fine. I study my notes then put them away, as it's considered cheating to use them during an exam, which I think if unfair.
Oh how I was wrong. I got a 30 on my exam. Only one other person failed but I'm not sure who it was. After class Ron, Hermione, and I left the room. "I'm going to go to the library to study so I can re-do the exam tomorrow," I told them, they nodded and headed off towards the great hall. I walked down to the library and entered, dropping my book bag next to a chair, I reach up for a book to study on and turns out, I'm too short to reach it.
"Need help, Potter?" Draco said from behind me, making me jump. He was leaning against the desk, arms folded, smirking at me and how I couldn't reach the book. He walked over and grabbed the book. He handed it to me. "Looks like you were the other person to fail," Draco pointed out. Wait, he failed too? I nodded as I sat down and began reading the book, not being able to focus with him there. He sat down next to me and leaned on the table, staring at me, making it really bloody hard to concentrate. "Are you going to turn into Granger and read five textbooks in one night or are you going to talk to me?" He asked, I shrugged in return.
"Would rather bury my face in books," I reply simply. I flip a couple of pages and start taking notes, hoping he would leave me alone. He took my ink jar away, so when I thought it was there it wasn't. I sigh and look at him, he's playing with the ink jar in between his fingers. "I need that," I remind him, making him focus his attention on me instead of the ink jar.
"But notes are boring, just read the book and remember what it reads," he replies, shrugging. He continues playing with the jar of ink, focusing his attention back on it. I look back down at the book and read through it, taking me around an hour to complete. Draco sat there the entire time, staring at me...
I closed the book and attempted to put it back, it resulting on it falling on my face. I heard Draco kind of chuckle at me. I turned around, holding my head. "What's so funny?" I asked.
"Your lack of ability to reach high places," He flat out said. He picked the book off of the floor and put it back. "Any other book?" He asked. I nodded and pointed to a slightly smaller book. He grabbed it and handed it to me, sitting back down. I sat down and opened the book, flipping through the pages every two minutes or so. I finished the book and shut it, leaving it on the desk. I grabbed my bookbag and swung it around my shoulder. "Leaving?" Draco asked, I nodded. He handed me my ink and quill back. "Are you going to next class?" Draco asked."I already missed half of it so no," I replied.
"Where are you going then?" Draco questioned.
"Common room or dorm why?" I responded. Why was he asking so many questions? I was very nervous talking to him, heart racing.
"No reason," Draco said as he walked off. Weird. I walked to the common room and sat on the couch watching the fire. Pretty soon Hermione walked in, Ron after.
"Did you study well?" Ron asked, smirking. Hermione hit him in the chest.
"Ron!" Hermione hissed. "Do you think you took enough notes to cover the exam?" she asked, I shook my head no.
"Draco took away my ink and quill, I couldn't write anything down, I did read two study books though," I told her, she sighed.
"Alright, as long as you remember enough to pass the exam," she noted. I nodded.
"I'm going to put my bag in my room, I'll be back," I told them as they nodded, I walked into my dorm and placed my bag next to my bed. Then I looked on my bed and saw a letter. I opened it and took the parchment out. It read:
Dear Harry,
I like you
-anonymous
Who could it be from? I folded the note back up and put it on the table next to my bed. I then walked out of my dorm and to the common room. "Are you coming to dinner Harry?" Hermione asked. I nodded.
"I'm actually a bit hungry, I missed lunch and barely ate at breakfast," I told her. "I did find this odd letter on my bed though," I tell them.
"Who was it from?" Ron asked, practically jumping out of the couch.
"Didn't say," I informed him, he slouched down into his spot, crossing his arms.
"Well, what did the letter say?" Hermione asked.
"It read only one sentence, it said: Dear Harry, I like you, from anonymous," I informed them. They sighed. We sat around and talked for a couple of hours until dinner time came round. Then we left and headed for the great hall. I look up and saw Draco, at the entrance, with his friends. As we walked by him I could feel his eyes on me. We sat down in our usual spots and started eating. I heard Draco sit down at his spot, behind us. I could hear his conversation.
"So have you got an answer out of him?" Goyle asked.
"Yes," Draco answered.
"And what is the answer?" Crabbe asked.
"None of your business," Draco added. My heart felt so warm because he wasn't telling anyone.
"Draco come on, it's not like he likes you or anything," Goyle mentioned.
"Either way it's none of your business," Draco answered.
When lunch was over I felt Draco brush against my back, placing a piece of parchment in my pocket. I opened it and it read:
Meet me in the astronomy tower before bed
What does this mean?
