The next lunch was simply the same as the last two. Harry settled in first and sat in peace, only letting a few tears fall today. Sooner or later, Louis would come barging in creating a ruckus. However, something was different. This time Harry had to stop himself from smiling. He had secretly hoped the loud funny boy would continue to interrupt his lunch. Scolding himself, Harry wiped his tears and kept his eyes on the ground.
You can't trust him. Or anyone. Was all the curly boy said to himself.
"Hey, how are you?" Louis asked politely, taking his usual spot opposite the soundless boy. "I don't mind that you don't want to talk to me. I understand." A frown found itself on the older boys face. He thought Harry would have warmed up to him a little by now.
The sound of the door being pushed open startled both boys. "Hey, Harry! Got yourself a new friend I see. What's your name?" Mr Smiths shaky low voice spoke out. Making Harry facepalm in embarrassment.
Harry, Thought Louis
It suits him well. Cutie.
"My names Louis, sir." The wrinkly ancient man smiled and accepted the boy's handshake before chuckling to himself and grabbing one of many broomsticks then leaving. Once the old man left, Louis' head snapped in Harry's direction his head nearly spinning all the way around from the force.
"So, Harry huh." Smirking at the tear-stained boy who was holding his knees up to his chest. Harry desperately tried to hide his burning up cheeks. "It's a nice name, suits you." The smirk was replaced with a smile as Louis placed a hand on Harry's jean covered knee.
Harry lifted up his head slightly so his green eyes met his blue ones. He just couldn't hold it in any longer. A small smile spread onto Harry's face, blinding away the scars left from his tears.
"Thanks, Lou." Louis swore his heart exploded from happiness and from the sound of Harry's adorable voice.
Both smiles didn't fade only grew bigger as Harry pulled out a spare jam sandwich and handed it to Louis. Shocked and overjoyed, Louis threw his arms around Harry taking him by surprise. However, it surprised Louis, even more, when Harry locked his arms around Louis in response.
"Harry?" Curls sprawled everywhere as his head shot up, looking Louis in the eyes once again. "We're friends now, aren't we?" With hopeful eyes, Louis felt as if his body would overflow with nerves.
"Of course. I don't share my jam sandwiches with just anyone you know." Harry smiled. It was the most gorgeous thing Louis had ever seen. He felt lucky and special that he had managed to make Harry smile.
"Well, I certainly hope not. I would be rather offended." Both boys chuckled and continued to tuck into their lunch.
Things were finally looking up for the two.
