      Shin Tsumiki and Kanna Kizuichi had just escaped certain death.

      With help from the police, of course.

      You see what had happened was some crazy guy decided to start a death game. And that's the most the police let the victims of this terrible death game know.

      Which Shin thought was bullshit.

      Shin personally thought they deserved to know what's happening. He would always think that. But of course, you can't have everything. Shin learned that long before though.

      The cops came before they could even get everyone into there first trials, but for some it was to late.

     Like Kanna's sister.

     Kanna had accidentally killed her sister. It wasn't her fault though, she couldn't reach the sandpaper to sand down the key to free her sister from her restraints.

    Anyways, Kanna no longer had any family to take care of her. She was on her own. Sitting in the police station. The officers weren't really doing anything.. To Kanna, it seemed like they we're treating her like a murderer. 

   All the sudden, the door opened in the room she was sitting in. A taller investigator was standing there, they looked at Kanna and said, "Hello, Kanna." Kanna had seen this person before, they had asked Kanna many questions, none she really knew how to answer.

   "Hi.." Kanna mumbled, she really wasn't prepared for what was about to be said to her, she shifted in her chair slightly. The investigator motioned for Kanna to stand up, and so, Kanna stood up.

    "You know how we couldn't find anyone to take care of you?" The investigator asked Kanna getting down to her level. Kanna nodded.

     "Well, we found someone. He's not from any of your family, but, he told us that he's had some experience with kids! So we think he'll be qualified to take care of you!" The investigator told Kanna.

     Kanna couldn't believe this! Someone offered to take care of her! Kanna's face went from distressed and scared to somewhat happy! "Really!?" Kanna excitedly yelled.

The investigator smiled, they don't think they've ever seen a child more happy in their life. It was heartwarming. "Yep! He's here right now! So you might as well go meet him!" The investigator got up starting to walkout, Kanna followed them happily.

Shin sat there. In the police station. Waiting for the kid he basically just adopted. Shin never really thought of himself as the 'nurturing' type, but he always made sure people who we're victims were safe and loved, he guessed it was just instinct. He also never liked kids, they were always gross and slimy. But, he was told that this kid was 13, so she shouldn't be to much of a pain in the ass.

Kanna walked out into the see one lanky man slumped down in a chair. Well this isn't the person she was expecting. But, she really didn't know what she was expecting.. But certainly not this guy. The man in the chair picked up his head, the investigator spoke up "And this is who will be taking care of you Miss. Kizuichi, this is-" the lanky man cut them off "I'm Shin Tsumiki. Nice to meet you Kanna." He said standing up.

Kanna walked over to him and shook his hand. The investigator smiled and simply said, "Well Mr. Tsumiki, all the legal things are finished, so I do believe you can take her home. Maybe introduce her to her new surroundings?" Shin nodded and walked out with Kanna.

   Shin opened the car door for Kanna, Kanna sat down, the car smelled of cigarettes and copper, it made Kanna want to gag, Shin got in the car "Sorry about the smell kid... I'm trying to get rid of it." Shin apologized while turning on the car. "No no.. It's ok.. Kanna's ok with it.." Kanna tried her best to cover up the fact that she wanted to gag.

    Shin and Kanna were in silence for an uncomfortable amount of time, Shin decided he might as well try to start a conversation for once, "Soooooo... Kanna, what's your favorite color?" Shin asked, he really didn't know how to talk to kids to this was his best attempt, Kanna shifted in her seat, she never really thought about her favorite color so she answered "Ummmm.. Kanna likes green.." Kanna answered calmly, Shin could tell she was uncomfortable, he really didn't know how to help, but he knew he could try.

     "Hey, Uhh.. I know this is a weird situation.. And I can't imagine what it's like for a kid like you to experience this.. I know you we're very close with your sister.. And I know what happened, and all I have to say is: it's not your fault. Some days you might feel like it's your fault, but it's not. I just need you to know that." Shin explained.

      Kanna sat in silence. She didn't know what to say.. She tried her best to smile "T-Thank you Shin.."

Shin eventually pulled into the driveway, the house was small, but it looked like he worked hard for it. The two got out of the old car, Shin rummaged around in his pocket for the key to his house. Finally, he pulled out a bronze key and unlocked the door.

     The house seemed dead. All the lights were off, there wasn't a sound that filed the room besides the breathing of the two people within the house. It was fairly clean, but clearly trash was shoved under the couch. It reminded Kanna of her sisters room, her sister was almost perfect... But she was kinda a slob. Kanna smiled.

     Shin turned on a few lights, "Here, maybe this is better than standing in the dark.." Shin laughed as he turned on a hall light, "Ahaha.. Yeah!" Kanna laughed looking around now that the house was illuminated in light. The house was quite normal, it was a one story home with decent decorating, it was just like any other home. Shin spun around on his heels "Yeah.. The old home isn't much.. But it's what I got! So I'm happy! I hope you are too." Kanna smiled looking up at Shin "It's ok! Kanna's fine with it!" Shin smiled back looking down at her "Well! If your ok I'm ok!" Shin replied.

    Shin lead Kanna to her room, the door slid open as Kanna gazed upon the room. It was small, but good enough for a 13 year old, there we're some different clothes laid out on the bed, and a phone was on the side table by the bed. "I got this room set up with the help from one of my new friends.. He'll stop by tomorrow I think.. So you'll get to meet him. But there's some clothes over on your bed, I didn't know what your style was so I got whatever. And there's a phone over there, gifted to you by a different friend of mine." Shin explained to Kanna, Kanna nodded to show that she understood. Shin patted Kanna's shoulder and left "Goodnight kid."

    Kanna got ready for bed, she put on a simple night gown. She laid down in her new bed. It felt weird... A few nights ago she was sleeping in her bedroom, well, her old bedroom. She looked around the room, she looked out the window by her bed, the stars danced through the sky. It was quite. Kanna realized something while staring out the window: these are new beginnings. This could end up being ok.
