"Home sweet home ain't it"
Keja looked up at the cathedral ceilings of what her parents called "a grand house." the truth was that there was nothing grand about it. Yeah, the ceilings were high and the paint was new but the house was just as big as any other house they had. Keja was grateful for the new house but she just didn't like the vibes it gave off.
Keja hurried up the stairs into her new room. Two of the walls were painted red, one was green, and the other was black. it sure didn't look good now but once she decorated it she was sure it would be the dream room she wished for. She set her bag down on the floor near the doorway of the room and looked out the window on the far side. Their house was in a neighborhood settled on the top of a hill. there was one road in and out, which would not be good for traffic. The road leads to the city that was a ways away from the hill. From Keja's window she could see the lights of the city well below and off to the side she spotted a dark silhouette of what she thought was a shack. She peered closer at the dark silhouette further down the hill. It was abandoned.
Kejas pocket vibrated. She took her phone out and checked the screen. Abu with a cake emoji was displayed on the screen. Keja rolled her eyes and answered.
a loud screech came from the phone and filled the room. Keja covered her ears.
"Jesus you're loud" Keja complained.
cordae laughed.
Cordae. She was keja's friend in sixth grade when she had transferred. They had been inseparable but Keja didn't go to the same middle school as cordae. They lost touch for two years. then when they realized they were going to the same school they rekindled their friendship. Keja knew it was a true friendship because it was like they were never separated.
"Soo" Cordaes voice came out of the phone a little too loud to be normal.
"The house is nice," Keja said circling the room to get to the closet. She knew what came next before Cordae even said it.
"Where's my house tour?" It posed as more of a statement than a question and Keja chuckled.
She pressed the button on the screen that changed the call to a facetime. Cordaes face appeared on the screen a second later. She had her face so close to the camera that keja could practically see in her pores.
"Ew nobody wants to see that," keja said.
Cordaes face whipped back from the screen and she laughed. Keja flipped the camera around.
"This is my closet" she did a spin with her phone "It's larger than normal-"
"To fit your big head" cordae cut in.
Keja grimaced then laughed. She would miss having Cordae around all the time but then again it wasn't like she had moved that far away. Cordae could walk.
"Anyways" Keja stepped out of the closet into her room doing another 360 with the camera.
"Oh so you repping now"
"Huh," Keja asked confused.
"The colors" cordae stated.
Keja didn't know what she was talking about.
"Black power? The colors of our flag?" cordae pursued.
Keja looked around the room then she saw it. She had picked the colors of the flag.
they both died of laughter. Keja didn't know if she liked the colors before but now she loved them. She was representing.
"Girl, some of us ain't got all day, hurry up," Cordae said impatiently.
