Chapter 3 I get drenched in toilet water
A few minutes later Chiron and Percy came over. I looked up from my book and saw them
"Annabeth," Chiron said, "I have masters' archery class at noon. Would you take Percy from here?"
"Yes, sir." I said
"Cabin eleven," Chiron told him, gesturing toward the doorway. "Make yourself at home."
Out of all the cabins, eleven looked the most like a regular old summer camp cabin. The brown paint peeling. Over the doorway was a caduceus. A long staff with wings and two snakes, named George and Martha warped around it.
Inside, it was packed with people, both boys and girls, way more than the number of bunk beds. Sleeping bags were spread all over on the floor. It looked like a gym where the Red Cross had set up an evacuation center, as always. Underdetermined half bloods were all put in the Hermes cabin, and well the gods don't always claim them.
Chiron didn't go in. The door was too low for him. But when the campers saw him they all stood and bowed respectfully.
"Well, then," Chiron said. "Good luck, Percy. I'll see you at dinner."
He galloped away toward the archery range.
I stood in the doorway, looking at the kids. They weren't bowing anymore. They were staring at him, sizing him up.
"Well?" I said. "Go on."
He tripped coming in the door and made a total fool of himself. There were some snickers from the campers, but none of them said anything.
I announced, "Percy Jackson, meet cabin eleven.
"Regular or undetermined?" Conner Stoll asked.
I said, "Undetermined."
Everybody groaned. Now they need some more space for another camper. This is probably a new record of the cabin.
Then Luke came forward. "Now, now, campers. That's what we're here for. Welcome, Percy. You can have that spot on the floor, right over there."
He was 19 and was tall and muscular, with short-cropped sandy hair and a friendly smile. He wore an orange tank top, cutoffs, sandals, and a leather necklace with five different-colored clay beads. Then I saw his scar, a tick white line running from just below his eye to his jaw. "This is Luke," I said, and my voice sounded different somehow. He glanced over and I could've sworn I was blushing. I saw him looking, and my expression hardened again. "He's your counselor for now."
"For now?" He asked. Wow he is slow
"You're undetermined," Luke explained patiently. "They don't know what cabin to put you in, so you're here. Cabin eleven takes all newcomers, all visitors. Naturally, we would. Hermes, our patron, is the god of travelers."
He looked at the tiny section of floor they'd given him. He looked rather disappointed, then he looked around
"How long will I be here?" He asked.
"Good question," Luke said. "Until you're determined."
"How long will that take?"
The campers all laughed, again
