The way Yongsun sees it,she has two options.

She can pack up her shit, move out, and pretend she isn't secretly developing a mild obsession with her next door neighbor. Because when you put it like that, Yongsun sounds like a total creep. Which she isn't.

Or (and this is where Yongsun's hit-and-run scare factor comes into play) -

She can see where this takes her.

Yongsun knows things have shifted in some way when she sees Hyejin again the following morning. She's preparing for her Sunday morning run when Eunwoo comes bolting out of the house, his mother not too far behind.

He immediately smiles when he sees her. "Hi, Yongsun!"

"Hey,. What're you up to so early?"

"We're going to the park," he informs her, with all the enthusiasm a kid can muster at -

Yongsun checks her watch.

Jesus. Who goes to the park at 7:30?

"Wanna come?" Eunwoo asks, right as Hyejin approaches behind him, and Yongsun finds she can't take her eyes off the jean shorts she has on today.

She's been drooling over killer stilettos and fitted dresses. Turns out a pair of jeans is Yongsun's weakness.

"Uh... raincheck," Yongsun says, distractedly. "Maybe next time?"

Eunwoo shrugs. "Okay."

As soon as he disappears under the hood of the car, Hyejin greets her with a smile. Coy. But Yongsun can also almost say it's... warm.

"I never pegged you as a morning person," Hyejin states, in her four inch wedges that are so not suitable for a day at the park.

"Force of habit," Yongsun explains. "Gotta stay in shape somehow."

Something indecipherable clouds over Hyejin's expression. "Yes. I'd say you're doing a decent job of that."

Warmth floods through Yongsun, both in the innocent and not-so-virginal sense. As in Yongsun may simultaneously combust from romantic and sexual strife.

"I'll take that as a compliment," Yongsun teases.

Hyejin's lips turn up in amusement. "Take it as you will, Miss Kim. I don't give those away very often."

"Yongsun."

"Excuse me?"

"Call me Yongsun."

Hyejin gets this look - Yongsun can't pinpoint what it is - but she's staring at Yongsun now, letting her gaze linger on Yongsun's face. Catching her bottom lip between her teeth.

God, why is there so much tension? The amount of it could cut through steel.

Right as Yongsun is about to prepare herself for more disappointment, the car horn beeps. Eunwoo pops his head out from the driver's side -

"Mom! Stop making googly eyes at Yongsun. Let's park it please. Let's go!"

- and ducks back inside, shutting the door.

Hyejin is either miffed or amused. Possibly both.

Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she says, "I suppose I better get going. His highness awaits."

Yongsun nods vigorously. "Yeah. Of course. Right. I'll... see you around."

"Yes." At this, Hyejin pauses with her hand on the car door and smirks. "Yongsun."
