one-last year

August 11
"JJ what's wrong? We were fine a second ago, now we're fighting over dinner, are you okay?" Emily asked worriedly as she made her way over to JJ with watery eyes. Emily placed her hands on the blonde's shoulders but JJ quickly threw her arms up and walked away.
"What's wrong is you! This! I can't do this anymore Emily!" JJ yelled and Emily was in shock, this wasn't the JJ that she knew and loved, she was mean, she was cold and she was broken.
"Wh-"
"I can't do this because I don't love you anymore!" The blonde yelled again and Emily was so sad she was angry.
"You don't love me or you don't love yourself?" Emily asked and JJ hesitated to answer. All she could think about was what her mother told her a little over a year ago.
June 5
A year ago
"Mom, I need to tell you something-" the blonde started then her little sister made herself visible.
"Hey Jess, come over here you both should know" JJ added then reached for Emily's hand.
"Emily and I are together, I love her and I'm in love with her" JJ smiled and looked at Emily before her mother slapped her across the face, causing cries from Jessie and shock from Emily.
"Get out! Jennifer, get out!" Her mother yelled.
"Hey out because I hate you, you disgust me and I hate you." Her mother added and Emily quickly led JJ out and Jessie followed.
The couple was on the lawn when the thirteen year old almost identical sister to JJ came running out and holding onto JJ.
"Don't leave JJ, please don't leave me!" She exclaimed sadly.
"I'm always a phone call away, I love you peanut" JJ smiled and she hugged her sister back.
"I'm not a baby anymore" Jessie said
"You are to me," JJ responded before placing a small kiss on the young blondes head.
"I love you Jen" Jessie exclaimed sadly with tears falling out of her eyes and onto her cheeks, causing JJ to pull away and wipe the tears.
"I know and I love you too, but I have to go," JJ said and made her way to Emily then they drove away and JJ could see her sister crying as she left. They had an extremely strong bond, JJ had always taken care of her sister and never failed to come through for her.
Present Day
"You! I don't love you!" JJ lied then ran out of Emily's apartment both in tears, both heartbroken.
Emily grabbed the bottle of wine she and JJ had opened then took it to her room and collapsed with defeat in her bed. JJ went home and threw on a shirt Emily had left there before crying her eyes out, her mother's voice ringing in her ears.
Emily and JJ had been together for a year and a half, they were extremely in love with each other and nothing could pull them apart, not even this 'fight'. Soon JJ would admit it was a lie and they would be back together. It wasn't a matter of lying or trust, it was a matter of being broken and being hurt, JJ was extremely hurt from what her mother said and never recovered. Emily was there for her as much as she could be but JJ had put walls up ever since, and only few Emily were able to break down. Emily was a second mother to the three year old Henry and he saw her as his mom too. Whenever Henry was sick he would ask for not Will, not JJ, but Emily and she didn't care if she got little kid sickness all over her, she just wanted to make sure he was okay. Will didn't mind, he actually liked Emily, she may not of liked him but they managed to get along for Henry and JJ'S sake and after all he did have his own girlfriend after the break up with JJ.
Only Sandy, and Jessie knew of the couple, no one on Emily's side, no one on the team, well maybe the wise Dave Rossi, he always had suspicions. But when JJ had no one to go to about her mother, it was only Emily who was there because their closest thing to a real family was the team and they couldn't know because of the policies of the FBI. Emily and JJ were able to hide their relationship because before they were an actual 'thing' they were a thing, a pair of best friends who loved each other more than anything in the world, and that was if JJ would care to admit it or not.
August 12
Emily woke up to a massive headache and her phone ringing off the hook, only making it worse. She looked over at the bright screen basically blinding her eyes and was able to make out a text from Derek that read "yo princess open up, we don't have work and we're going for a run" and just like that Emily heard knocking from her apartment door. She got up and on her way through the living room was able to see her puffy eyes and messy hair, Emily opened the door and sighed.
"Wow. You look like hell" Derek exclaimed with laughter and Emily rolled her eyes then began to shut the door but Derek stopped it as Emily plopped onto the couch. Derek put down his things then sat next to her.
"I feel like hell" Emily groaned and curled up with a pillow.
"What happened?"
"you have to promise me you won't say anything, because she'll kill me if you do" Emily stated
"promise, always Emily" Derek replied and Emily felt safe in his presence.
"JJ happened" Emily sighed and began to explain to him everything that has happened in the past year and a half.
JJ woke up to an empty apartment, no Emily holding her in a warm embrace, no Emily at all and she regretted every second of what happened the previous night. Knowing they didn't have work and that she didn't get Henry until the weekend JJ threw her hair into a messy bun and went into the kitchen still in Emily's shirt and pajama shorts. The blonde made herself a mimosa minus the orange juice and the glass then ended up bringing the bottle of vodka to the living room where she spent hours going through her camera roll that consisted of photos of her and Henry, her and Emily, Emily and Henry and them all together. She couldn't fight back her tears and all she heard was three words from her mother "I hate you".
