Introductions, P.T.S.D. and the Return of A.P.

'This is Jaden?' I thought, 'How..... underwhelming. I didn't think the next king of games would look like a kuriboh this much...'

"Hello?" A hand waves frantically in front of my face as I continue to zone out, "Yo, Sy, is this chick ok?"

As Jaden starts to wave his hand faster in front of my face, I get annoyed and grab it mid-wave.
"Never, EVER, refer to me as a 'chick', got that?"

See, told ya I'm not very nice.

"Ummmm... (Y/N)..." Syrus starts, staring at me with pleading eyes that scream, 'Please, Please, PLEASE, don't kill him!' "Please let go of his hand," he turns to Jaden as I let him go, "It can't be very comfortable for him, and I don't want him to live in fear of you,"

Seeing how much my brother wants me to get along with Jaden, and seeing how quickly I ruined that dream, I start to feel nauseas. But right before the guilt permanently set in, Jaden starts to laugh.

"Ok, no cutesy nicknames, got it!" His laugh quickly desires into a full on smile, " Anything else I would put on your 'No-No' list before the morning continues?"

Joining in on the joking atmosphere, I put my finger to my chin and stare off, pretending to think, "Huh, let's see... No smoking, no drinking, no hard drugs. No murder, no illegal gambling, no prostitution, and no dueling to the death. Other than those things, anything goes in this household," I chuckle.

"THEN I GUESS SURPRISE ATTACKS ARE OK TOO!" The loud screaming is accompanied by a wild 10 year old jumping on to my back.
I almost collapse in surprise but I catch myself, and more importantly, Nicky, before we hit the ground.

" Well, good morning sunshine!" I say as I lean forward bringing Nicky face-to-face with Jaden, "Nicky, this is Syrus' friend Jaden Yuki! Jaden, this is my youngest brother, Nicky,"

"Woah, the Jaden Yuki? Syrus says you beat the shadow riders! Oh, oh, and that you could've moved up the ranks at Duel Academy, but chose to stay in Slifer with him! Oh and you...." as Nicky rambles on about Jayden, I put him down and look a Sy.

Mentioning Duel Academy around Syrus was always hard, and sometimes he even experiences panic attacks when it's brought up in conversation, which is totally understandable figuring everything that happened. But even though Nicky mentioned it , and some of the events that want on, Syrus seems to be ok, though he might just be hiding it, I'll check in with him later.

I smile and turn back to the other boys to find that Nicky is practically smothering Jaden, but Jay seems to love the attention, as he shuffles though his deck to show Nicky all his favorite cards, "And this is Burstinatrix, she's one of my go-to's in everyday dueling! And this one is..."

"-Oh, that reminds me!" Sy exclaims, " Guess what we're all doing tonight!"

Jaden looks up, taking Nicky's attention away from the cards, "What Sy?"

"(Y/N)'s been a pro duelist for a awhile now, and she has this anonymous match tonight! Usually, me and Nick have to watch at home, but tonight she got us tickets to see her duel!"

"Pretty exiting right?" I turn to the Jay and Nicky. Nick's squealing on the floor, while Jaden just looks star struck.

"Wait, you're on TV sometimes aren't you? Oh shit, you're, you're..." Jaden spins in circles as he tries to remember, " you're, you're..."

"I'm Dueling Doll," I say. Filling in the blanks for him.

I'm not surprised he didn't recognize me right away. My manager thought that adding some mystique to my persona would make me more popular, and he was right. Unfortunately, now whenever I duel professionally I have to get into a full costume, mask and wig included. On the bright side, no one knowing what I look like separates my dueling and TV life from my home life. That's why I wasn't worried about being caught as an underage drinker. Because because nobody knows me at parties. And the name wasn't my first choice, either, but my manager said that having a childish title would make me seem even more like a powerhouse when I defeat my opponents, and he wasn't wrong about that either. My manager understands the public side of dueling more than anyone, and though he annoys me to bits, I couldn't imagine trusting anyone else with my career.

"Oooh, the Dueling Doll, right," Jaden says, "Dude, can I call you dude?" I smile and nod, "Dude! You have a crazy winning streak going on right now! That's so cool, we actually get to see an up and comer, field side at their duel,"

"I get to see my big sis in action! Whoo-hoo!" Nicky shouts punching the air excitedly.

"Ten bucks says he falls asleep during your duel," Sy whispers to me.

"You're on!"

The rest of the day was pretty chill and lazy. We ordered pancakes for lunch, watched some TV, swapped childhood stories, and even played some mock duels(Jaden and I tied 3 games each). Eventually, it was time to get ready to go.

I got into my costume for the night( I have 3 dueling costumes), and my manager sent a car to take us the the arena.

When me got into the car, Jaden immediately went for the mini fridge, "This is sweet! You're manager must be pretty swanky if he can afford all this! Who is this guy?"

"Actually, you've already met him," I smile before I start to put my mask on.

"No fair! You can leave me hanging in suspense like that!"

I slip my mask on all the way, " Sorry Jay, I can't talk anymore, gotta get into character,"

"Astor Fucking Phoenix is your manager?!?"

Jaden screaming in a V.I.P. box is probably one of the best ways to start out a dueling night.

"Are you really so surprised?" Astor mocks, "You don't think someone as smart as I am would move up in the ranks of dueling and go to management? I am no one's puppet anymore, now I pull the strings, oh, no offense (Y/N)," 

"Astor, trust me, I get it," I say. Right then, the loudspeaker blares...

"ALL DUELISTS REPORT TO THE ARENA"

"Well, that's me," I turn to Nicky, Sy, Jay and Astor, " Don't murder each other while I'm gone," I scream as I head out.

" AS YOU ALL ARE AWARE, ANONYMOUS DUELS ONLY HAPPEN WHEN A SPECIFIC DUELIST REQUESTS AN ANONYMOUS MATCH TO A DUELIST IN THEIR EXACT SAME RANK, NO ONE KNOWS THE FIRST OPPONENT UNTIL THE STEP OUT ONTO THE FIELD," I heard the announcer state the rules as I wait to be called on stage, "NOW, THE FIRST DUELIST, THE CHALLENGED, DUELING DOLL!" I step out onto the field and waved my gloved  hand  to the crowd as I get my duel disk ready, " AND NOW, THE CHALLENGER, HELL KAISER!"

Oh, fuck.
