Weak (Sugawara x Oikawa)

"When are you planning to tell him?" Iwaizumi asked Oikawa while they were on their way home.

Oikawa smiled bitterly after his bestfriend's question.

"I don't have the courage to tell him. Especially in his current situation." He answered.

They part ways after that awkward moment. Iwaizumi headed to his home while Oikawa is headed to someone that makes him feel at home. He sighed as soon as he entered the building. The smell of sick people, smell of medicine, and the smell of someone dying makes him feel sick everytime. But he doesn't have a choice, he want to see him or rather he need to see him. While walking towards his destination the memories of their first encounter flashbacked in his mind. He smiled thinking that they were once rival in volleyball but now they're lovers.

"Miss me, Mr. Refreshing?" He said joyfully while making his grand entrance.

"Always, Toruu. How was your day?" Sugawara asked his lover.

"Good I guess, since Iwa-chan and I visited Seijoh to check the boys. Kunimi and Kindaichi have really good serves now. Karasuno should watch out for our team." He said with a hint of provocation.

Sugawara laughed softly. But that soft laugh made him cough for three minutes straight. He used to laugh loudly and continuously but now even a chuckle could make him cough repeatedly. A nurse rushed into the room to check Suga. His oxygen was adjusted into a higher level. This made the other feel worried and guilty at the same time.

"You know I can read your expressions very well, right? I am okay." He lied. He's not okay. Sugawara's lung cancer is already in the last stage. The chemotherapeutic drugs isn't working anymore. They even tried radiotherapy but it even made the symptoms worse. There are also tumors arising from other parts of his body due to the therapy.

Oikawa smiled then caressed Suga's face. Oikawa's mind is filled up with thoughts of how Suga still looks so refreshing, so handsome and pretty at the same time even without his beautiful gray hair.

"Koushi, do you know what's the date today? It's been two years since the time you asked for my number." Oikawa blurted out of nowhere.

A slight tint of red flushed on Suga's cheecks while his mind reminisced that day. He then nodded while smilling. And then breathe deeply before answering.

"Of course. I was so nervous that time. I was thinking that you won't give your number. I even made an excuse just to not weird you out of me liking you." He said while scratching the back of his nape.

"I was glad it ended well. And here we are now. Loving each other for two years. I can't even imagine what would be my life if I haven't confessed to you." Sugawara added while holding Oikawa's hand.

It's been minutes and they're still holding each other's hands, not wanting to let go. Because they both knew that it's already time. Sugawara's breathing became more shallow and frequent. Oikawa could see that even with oxygen he's having difficulty breathing and that he's already tired of breathing.

"Toruu, you're planning to leave the country right? But are you still staying longer for me?" Suga broke out the silence.

Oikawa tightened his grasp to the other's hand. And nodded while looking at him.

"Then go. Pursue your dream." Sugawara added.

"I can't. I don't want to." Oikawa immediately responded.

"Why?"

"Because I love you."

"I love you too. So please pursue your dream. Continue playing volleyball and conquer the world." Suga then pulled Oikawa towards him for a kiss.

After breaking the kiss, Suga cupped his lover's face.

"I'm tired. I already feel so weak. It's nice seeing your face for the last time. I love you, Toruu." He said while looking directly into his eyes. Then Suga took his last breath.

The machines in the room started beeping. And all of the sudden doctors and nurses came inside pushing Oikawa out of Suga's bed. Oikawa is in dazed, the world seemed to collapse. He just couldn't believe his lover is gone now. He then felt a sudden piercing pain in his chest. His heart seemed to stop beating. Oikawa fell on his knees while clutching his chest. His vision went blurry but he saw some nurses run towards him as his body lay on the floor.

'Guess I'll be joining you my Mr. Refreshing.'

What Sugawara doesn't know is that, Oikawa has atrial valve disease and is prone to heart attack. That is the other reason why he can't leave the country because he can't pursue his dreams anymore, not with a weak heart.
