"ATTACK! ATTACK!" The general shouted everyone in that troop ran and started attacking their enemies.
"Akaashi! On your left!" Bokuto shouted which made Akaashi instantly swing his sword towards his left beheading the attacking enemy.
"Thank you, Bokuto-san." He said then instantly focused on the battle.
Blood sheds everywhere. Groaning and sounds of agonizing soldiers filled the winter night. The soldiers Bokuto and Akaashi fights both for their lives and for their freedom, freedom from being dragged into this war of lands. Their enemies were killed one by one, this is the battle of the strongest. Whoever wins this war, they would be the lne to claim the land, which is also their battlefield. Akaashi was gasping for air after fighting and killing one soldier after another. If Akaashi counted right, there are atleast six enemies remaining out of almost 50 a while ago. And there are still almost 20 of them from around 40 soldiers from the start.
'I guessed that intense training became fruitful since I could see already our victory', Akaashi thought. Just when he was lost in his thoughts he didn't noticed an enemy approaching from his left.
The sword is already near his body so he decided to just close his eyes and accept his cruel fate not until he felt a strong push that made him fall into the ground. Then a sound of sword being pierced into a body followed. With the remaining strength he have, the man made a hole into the enemy's neck while he slowly pulled his body from the other's sword. Everything flashed into Akaashi's eyes, who is still on the ground with a shock on his face.
"Bokuto-san!" He immediately catched Bokuto who is on the verge of falling on the snow-covered ground.
Akaashi placed Bokuto's head on his lap.
"Bokuto-san, stay with me. We'll be going home anytime soon. Just hang on please." Akaashi said while tears dripping on his face.
"Akaashi, please don't cry. I don't want to see you crying. Not because you're ugly when you're crying but I just hate seeing you crying." Bokuto said in a soft voice while wiping the other's tears.
Akaashi bit his lips to contain himself from sobbing further and nodded slowly to assure his friend that he's trying not to cry anymore.
"When you cried, after that incident where an enemy managed to injure your face, I promised myself not to make you cry and that I will always protect you." He took a deep breath before continuing. "I managed to protect you but I also made you cry", he said while giving out a soft chuckle.
That made Akaashi smile while stroking Bokuto's hair. Bokuto looked up on the sky.
"I think lying down under the cherry blossom tree during the spring while looking at the moon and stars would be very beautiful. I hope I could do that with you." Bokuto said while caressing Akaashi's face with a smile.
"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" He added which made the other stunned. He knows what's the meaning behind that statement.
"Let's meet again in another life Akaashi." Bokuto said while smiling then closed his eyes forever.
The tears that Akaashi managed to stopped started flowing again, but this time he cried with all his heart, his weeping echoed that winter night. They definitely won the war but Akaashi couldn't celebrate at all especially after losing someone he likes that actually also liked him. Nothing is worth celebrating especially when their love story ended before it even started.
----It's been years after Bokuto first saw a bright light and all those faces he is not familiar with. And when he felt a warmth that he never had for so long. He also lived his life even though he's confused but at the same time he's just grateful that he is alive. Especially in this life during this new era.
With his middle school friends Bokuto is walking home not until he passed by a big cherry blossom tree. It's spring time so it really made everything appear pink. He stopped abruptly when he saw a man standing while looking up at the full-bloomed cherry blossoms. It feels like his feet have their own life and they are dragging him towards that person. He felt a sudden pain in his chest. It's like seeing someone that you really missed after a long time of separation. They're only inches away and Bokuto immediately recognized that face, how could he forget that beautiful face. But now he doesn't have that scar in his face which made him even more pretty on Bokuto's eyes. The man felt his presence so he looked into his left side where Bokuto is standing. The man immediately smiled and said,
"We met again Bokuto-san."
