Chapter 6: Broken and Bruised

With squinting eyes, I stared at Ene who was out of reality. Did she regret what she confessed? I hesitated but tapped her a bit making her slightly flinch away.

"You okay?" I asked, worriedly. I placed down my bag and looked at her.

She formed her lips into thin line,"I'm okay."

I grabbed the chair beside me, pulling it for me to have space to sit down.

"I know there's something bothering you. And it's okay to tell me."I stated with a smile.

She let out a sigh and pouted at me,"You're so stubborn."

"I know,"I remarked, running a hand through my hair.

"Uhm. Ayano-san... She--"

My eyes widened as I interrupted her,"W-What about Ayano?"Worry consumed my mind.

Her eyes that were averted from mine now met my orbs.

"S-She glared at me. I- I'm not sure. Was she angry? Did she had a bad day?" She whispered,puzzled.

I hid back the anger and worry that I am feeling,"Maybe she did have a bad day. Ayano would never glare at someone-"

"But she did."Ene stated firmly. She looked at me again and raised her hands"Don't worry! A glare wouldn't kill me."

I nodded at her and looked at the swinging curtains. Dark clouds started forming in the sky. My mind flew everywhere in the room. Did Ayano really did that? That was so unlike her.

Ene and I were heading to the cafeteria. I swiveled my eyes around the room and caught a familiar pair of eyes.

"Oi Nii-chan!" Momo waved, asking for our attention

Ayano didn't notice my presence ans was dead silent. Marry nodded at me, acknowledging my presence.

I let out an awkward laugh as the awkwardness surfaced. Their attention was all at me. I hesitated to looked at Ayano and forced a laugh.

"I'm eating with Ene alone for today. Would that be okay?" I asked yet my feelings opposed to it.

Ayano plastered on a fake smile then pursed her lips into thin line,"Of course! Have fun."

Without a word, Marry tugged at her arm. Where are they going?

Ene was holding her lunch tray, going to me. Before she passed Ayano's table, Ayano stood up with her juice and they crashed together.

"Oh no!" Ayano bowed her head in shame,"I'm so sorry Ene-san!"She apologized with her eyes closed.

Ene balled her fists and clenched her teeth. Was she that angry? I quickly walked to their place, preventing a fight that could start.

"Ayano,"I called at Ayano,"I told you to be careful."I said with the hint of anger and worry in my voice.

"I-I'm sorry." Ayano repeated.

I glanced at Ene who was now smiling at Ayano. It was very odd of the sudden change in her emotions.

"It's okay but I don't have an extra uniform---"Ene gestured her blouse.

"I-I have!"Momo raised her hand

Ene cracked a smile before leaving with Momo to the lockers.

"I'm sorry Shintaro."Ayano muttered under her breath.
