Ezra's eyes always showed what he was feeling. Gemma was the only one who would listen to his problems, but then again that's what friends do.
They were sitting quietly on the school’s abandoned bleachers.
“My girlfriend keeps annoying me so much” - Ezra sighed.
Gemma’s ears perked up in attention because if she had been waiting to hear some similar words come out of his mouth for a while, it’s an understatement.
“Oh?” - she offered in interest. “What are you going to do about it?”
He leaned back on the fence and gently pressed his shoulder next to hers.
“I don’t know, what do you think I should do?”
She could think of a million ways to tell him to just leave his girlfriend, because she saw the damage his whiny so called girlfriend was causing him and that he needed someone that could care for him and that would bring him neverending amounts of happiness. Maybe someone much like herself, because if the position were to be opened soon, then she would clearly volunteer as a ‘tribute’. Yet she couldn’t bring herself to act upon such selfish desires, because she knew that no matter how much butterflies she contained in her stomach every time he was near, he sadly had his heart set on the person he had spent a great amount of time with.
“Y-you should talk things out with her, because you guys fight constantly but you love each other deeply and maybe this time you guys can finally stop breaking up all the time” - she smiled dimply at him.
She felt him press his shoulder a bit more against her before standing up abruptly and staring at her with his soft unknowing brown eyes. Gladly, he wasn’t aware of her almost whimper because of the sudden lost of touch.
“You’re right. You always are”- he smiled brightly. “I’ll catch up with you later” -he pinched her left cheek and laughed at her sudden frown silently walking away.
She sighed, rubbing the spot on her cheek where he had pinched previously, knowing that it would take a while for her to forget the sensation and the image of him staring at her caringly.
