Evan Shiro grew up only knowing what he was told and taught by the government. Freedom is slavery. Self-thinking kills. Ignorance is best. The meaning behind those words was loving a friend or the same gender was unthinkable. If the government didn't choose your partner then you're considered the darklings. No one wants to be a darkling. Darklings are taken away and never heard of again. Evan would know. His brother was taken stating something about he loved Sally. Sally was Evan's big brother's childhood best friend. A nice young girl who followed every rule up to the point of reporting Evan's older brother when he was only seven years old. Since then his brother has not been heard of.
"Hey Evan!" shouted Rogue Queen, Evan's best friend, "I found this old photo book. You want to take a look with me?"
"Sure!" said Evan as Rogue and he went to his room. They opened the book to see it was about six people, two girls, and four guys.
"Ew. Look, those two guys are kissing!" said Rogue pointing at a picture.
"Look at this one. The description says they were best friends who fell in love" pointed out Evan.
"That is so against life to pick your lover. Everyone knows the government picks a random stranger to be your lover" said Rogue looking at the pictures disgustingly. Evan only nodded to Rogue feeling an uneasy feeling. As the two looked at the photo book the move Evan felt like the book might be hinting at him about something.
"To those in the future who may find this book. We are a group of people who were before the government took control. People have a will and we hope you will break the government's rule and put things back to how they were like they were in this book" read Rogue as something inside Evan snapped. he was just like these people. Not only did he love his bestie friend but he loved a guy.
"Rogue I have to confess something. I'm just like these people" said Evan looking at the last picture.
"What loving a friend? Your weird" replied Rogue standing up.
"But that means you're the reason why I'm weird. Rogue, I love you" Evan replied to Rogue. Rogue couldn't handle it and ran out of the house. Evan ran after him. By the time Rogue got to his front door, a police officer was there pointing a gun at him with Rogue behind him.
"Son you have committed the crime of Self-thought and will be killed with the person you fell in love with to keep the peace" ordered the police officer as Evan's eyes went wide and looked at Rogue who now regretted reporting him.
The next day Evan was placed in front of his family and neighboring people. He was to be killed first then, Rogue.
"I'm so sorry Evan. I didn't know they'd kill us both. I just wanted to make you normal" cried Rogue from the officer's hands. He was handcuffed behind his back.
"You did nothing wrong Rogue. I disturbed the peace and now you and I will suffer my crime. I hope you forgive me" replied Evan as the police readied their guns.
"People have a self-will and let me be a reminder that people will rise above the government!" yelled Evan just as the police fired. After both boys were killed everything went back to the government's control.
