Hophelia smiled at him. It was nice being complimented for her looks.

"Thank you. You're not too bad yourself."

He put a hand on the back of his head, ruffling his hair awkwardly. He was embarrassed to be around her... She found it cute.

"Do we have some time before we have to go down for diner ? I want to talk to you for a bit."

"Yes, we still have a few minutes. Is something wrong?"

"No. I just wanted to say... We can give it a try."

"Really? You're sure?"

"Yes. I gave it a thought and discussed it with my wolf, Anabelle. She's a bit reluctant since she's still strongly affected by the mate bond, but she agreed to give you a chance."

"Do you want me to introduce you as my mate tonight...? We can do things at your pace."

"We can do it tonight. I want to be done with it...as fast as possible."

He stared at her, not knowing how to react to the news.

"If that's what you want...I'll gladly comply. I'll have someone move your belongings to my room then."

She gulped and nodded, feeling a bit stressed and anxious about the mating ceremony. She would have to sleep with Iain, and have him mark her and make her his. She really hoped it would take away the pain she felt each time she thought about Xavier.

Taking his arm, she left the room with Iain, giving the place one last glance. They walked in silence for a bit, until they made it to the large staircase leading down to the hall.

As they entered the dining room, a few heads turned their way towards them. One of which she recognized to be one of the men who were with Iain when they had met.

"Good evening. I'd first like to formally introduce my guest. Hophelia Clam, Beta's daughter from the Blood Moon pack...and your futur Luna."

I tensed as he added that last part, being reminded of what I had lost in the past few days and what was yet to come. It was a weird mixture of hope and disappointment, excitement for a new beginning and fear of the unknown...

"Hophelia, this is Alexander, my Beta. I'm sure you might remember him from our earlier encounter. Mathew, my Gamma. Louisa and Andrew, my parents, and former Alpha and Luna of this pack."

I introduced myself to them again and said hello to each of them. His beta and gamma looked friendly enough, and his parents, thought probably old looked quite lively still. They also looked very much like him, which in turn made them fairly likable.

We then sat down and ate without a word for the first few minutes before Iain broke the silence.

"The mating ceremony will take place tonight. An announcement will be made to the pack members tomorrow morning, and a small celebration will be organized."

Everyone nodded, still not saying a word. I suppose they did know we weren't true mates since they must be aware of what had happened to him with that so called Jessica.

"I'm glad you're moving on." His mother said, suddenly.

He smiled her way and put his hand on mine, on the table.

"We're both moving on."

She gave me a weird look, probably confirming her suspicions as to my own past, before smiling at me as well.

"Don't worry child, everything will be fine."

She was probably trying yi reassure me but I couldn't find it in me to feel any better.

At the same time, I noticed his father locking eyes with him. They were definitely mind linking and his father didn't seem too happy about my presence here.

The dinner ended shortly after, and Iain offered me his arm again, walking me back upstairs to his room this time.

He stopped in front of his door and I could feel my own heart beating out of my chest.

"You're nervous."

"Yes."

"My father doesn't really approve of what we're doing." He said as he opened the door.

"I guessed so."

"It doesn't matter though. He'll learn to accept you."

I didn't really know how to respond to that and simply walked in behind him. I could feel the tension between us in the room and I knew it was about time my heat started. I hoped that would help.

He stared at me for a while before closing the door and trapping between it and his imposing body, his eyes fixed ok my face.

"I'll ask you one last time..."

He said as his eyes flicked to black then closed. He was trying to control himself and his wolf.

"...Are you sure about this ?"

I gulped, staring right back at him. I was starting to feel the effect of the heat myself...

"Yes"

I whispered weakly, before he crushed his lips against mine, pulling my body towards his, and holding me close with his strong arms.

And I was starting to get dizzy, as both Annabelle and I surrendered ourselves to him.
