I stared at the growling Alpha in front of me, shivers running down my spine. We were alone in his study and no one would be able to save me if he ever wanted to rip my body apart...
"Or your clothes for that matter..." said Annabelle in my head. "Don't forget he's still our mate..."
I haven't forgotten that part. And even though I had decided to leave him for Iain, I still felt a lot of attraction towards Xavier. I couldn't explain it in words really, the mate bond was a wonderful thing... Or in this case, a terrible one.
He suddenly leaned in closer, his head now in the crook of my neck as he inhaled my scent.
"You smell of him." He growled.
I just kept on staring back at him, unsure of what to say back. He almost looked...hurt by it. I couldn't really understand since he never really seemed to care much for me or what I did.
"I'm here to break our bond. I have decided to mate with Iain."
"How dare you?!" He said his hand tightening its grip on my arm.
"Ouch! You're hurting me! Xavier! Why do you even care ?!"
"Because. You. Are. MY. Mate." He said making sure to stress the word "my".
"Not anymore." I said frowning and trying to jerk my arm away from his grip.
"I accept your rej-"
I couldn't even finish my sentence before he stopped me with a kiss, sending all of my senses into overdrive. I don't know what happened or when but all I remember is I ended up in his room, on his bed, half dressed and panting.
With only one touch, he made me forget all about my plans to leave him for Iain.
No. I shouldn't.
...But it felt si right to be with Xavier.
I heard him growl as pain surged in my whole body, radiating from my neck. I could feel his canines sinking into my flesh and drawing a muffled moan from me.
He marked me.
He just marked me.

Ian POV
I kept waiting for her in the living room, Xavier's Beta and Gamma watching me cautiously. Alexander, my Beta, was by my side, sensing my anxiety.
Just what was taking them so long ?
Just when I was about to leave the room and go looking for my mate-to-be, a familiar scent caught my attention.
In front of me walked my ex-mate, Jessica. I didn't feel any attraction per say for her as our mate bond had been broken years ago, but I still felt a pang of sadness as I imagined her with another man.
I glanced down at her belly and was surprised to see it swollen. She was carrying his pup.
That bastard.
She walked towards us and stopped, greeting us coldly. She sounded sly.
"Hello, Alpha Ian. What brings you here today?" She asked, walking even closer and standing right in front of me.
I wanted to take a step back, but my pride as an Alpha would not allow me to do so. I didn't want the others to think I was scared of a she-wolf.
"I am here with my mate." I told her.
"Alexander ?" She asked, sounding very amused by her own jokes. "I didn't know you swung THAT way..." As she started laughing out loud.
Alexander was about to do something when I glanced back at him. My message was clear : do not interfere.
"Congratulations. I see you're finally pregnant with Xavier's pups." I smiled, trying to make it look genuine, but failing miserably.
That's when I heard a scream coming from the first floor.
"Hophelia !" I shouted back, as I pushed them all from in front if me and climbed the stairs in a hurry.
I could hear the distress in her voice as another person groaned in pain.
Xavier.
