James POV

I left the house early the next morning to visit the pack house. I needed to talk to my father urgently about Hophelia and what she had recently told me about her mate. If Xavier truly was her mate, she would have to leave us and go live with him since she doesn't want to accept his rejection.

I walked inside the Beta's office and greeted my father.

"Hello, Father."

"Hello." He said, staring at me like I was bothering him in his work...which I was.

"I need to talk to you about Hophelia. It's important."

"If it's about Xavier, you can leave. The alpha's rejected her already and we can't force him to take her with him."

"But he's her mate ! And she's your daughter. Don't you want her to be happy?"

He cleared his throat.

"Son. You know just as well as I that Alpha Xavier Romero of the Dark Night pack is the most dangerous werewolf in the world and I do not really feel too happy that she's been mated to him. Think about it. His rejection is a good thing ! Now she won't have to move away from here and go live with them."

"She still wants to be with him. He's her mate. She feels the pull everyday."

"Well then. We'll have to convince her otherwise. You're dismissed." He answered matter of factly.

Hophelia POV

I stayed in bed today. Not wanting to face his rejection again. I heard my father and brother's mind links, telling me to go to training but I refused to and locked myself in my room.

"Hey, Anabelle...why do you think he rejected us ?"

"I don't know..." She said weakly. It sounded like she was a lot more hurt than Hophelia since she could feel a stronger pull to his wolf. "His wolf wants us. I'm sure of it. He told me."

"Well...that means we still have a chance no ?" She exclaimed happily.

"Don't get your hopes up... His human seems to hate is for some reason."

"I know...I know...but it's worth a try no? If his wolf wants us, it means I'm not wrong and he's also feeling conflicted about this. It's not easy for him to reject the mate bond."

She got up then, fuled by this new energy. She was going to convince him he needed to take her with him.

She got herself ready and this time put on some nice grey shorts and a black sports bra, holding her hair in a ponytail, then walked out the door.

She ran all the way to the training grounds, eager to go talk to Xavier again.

To her disappointment however...he was not there. Instead, her father was the one training the warriors. She looked at him, confused.

"Where is Alpha Xavier ?" She asked.

"He left this morning. Had some urgent business in his pack he said so he cut his training plan short."

"I need to talk to him."

"No. You can feel better now that he's gone. There's no reason for you to see him again."

"But father! He's my mate!"

"And he doesn't care about you!"

Hophelia stared at him, her eyes filling up with tears.

"Mother was right... Now I know why she left you despite the mate b-!"

He stopped her with a slap. His eyes red in fury. She had gone too far mentioning his own issues with her mother, although she didn't think so. She growled at him, in front of everyone else who had no stopped to watch them.

"Go to your room. And don't come out until I give you permission to do so." He snapped at her with his Beta voice.

Unable to disobey the Beta's command, she ran back to the house, the tears streaming down her face. She locked the door of her room and started packing her bags.

She will go find her mate herself.
