Chapter 15 (Hiccup's P.O.V)

I haven't seen Astrid in a few days now because Gothi said she had to stay with her. A couple days later I got word that I could see Astrid. I went to Gothi's and slowly walked inside. I saw Astrid lying on a bed and Gothi sitting on the end of it. Astrid looked more pale than ever. She looked so innocent. And scared. And in pain. My breathing became heavy. I stepped towards her and sat next to Gothi. She tried to open her eyes. "Hiccup?" She said weakly. I smiled at her. "It's ok. Just rest." I said. This time she forced herself to open her eyes. "Hiccup. We both know that this is not ok." She said. I nodded. She put her hand out, gesturing to me to take it, "You will be ok." She said quietly. And a tear fell down my face, "Astrid, you and I both know that I won't be ok. I never will." I said, my voice shaking. She pulled me closer. Only inches away. She managed to find strength to kiss me. But not long. She laid back down and relaxed. "Hiccup, I...love...you." She said. So quiet I could barely make it out. "I love you too Astrid." I said. Tears streamed down my face as I felt her grip loosen on my hand. And it fell. Gothi put her hand on my shoulder as a signal. I picked her up. And held her in my arms. My eyes started to burn and my breath wasn't steady. I hugged her so hard I couldn't even take it. I laid her back down and just looked at her. Missing her already. "Hiccup!" Gobber said running to him a couple of hours later. "Astrid's awake. It's a miracle." I ran as fast as I could to Gothi's.
