Leorio clenched his fists in anger and threw the can of juice on the ground, "How dare that guy give us juice spiked with laxatives!" Gon and Killua ran a few feet ahead of Leorio as he shouted. "That guy's got another thing coming if he thinks he can get away with that!" He managed to shout a few more words before running out of breath. This exam is gonna be way harder than I thought! All we have to do so far is follow that purple haired guy, but gosh is he fast! Leorio thought to himself as he ran beside Kurapika.
All of those who wanted to take the exam ran in one large clump. One very, very large clump. So large, Leorio couldn't even find the leader amongst all the people, but he assumed they would all be going the right way. "How long have we been running, Kurapika?" He asked his friend. "About 30 minutes. Why do you ask? Are you tired already?" The blonde haired boy responded. "WHAT? NO!" For someone so out of breath, Leorio could shout pretty darn loud.
Kurapika rolled his eyes, knowing Leorio was bluffing. The four boys ran up the stairs, keeping up with the crowd. Leorio loosened his tie, it was just restricting his airway more. He also unbuttoned his dress shirt, and tied it around his waist. He did the same with his suit jacket. This made him slightly cooler, but it didn't help him go any faster to keep up with Gon and Killua. They were the youngest, so it's no surprise they flew ahead. The boy knew they were going to be running for a while, so he took in the scenery around him. Or at least, what little there was.
The only thing to look at was the mass amount of future hunters around him. Mostly, it was just your average man. The whole ordeal wasn't too pleasant because the entire hall smelled of sweat. Leorio just thought about how much all this sweat and running would pay off. Being a doctor. The thought of healing ill people for no charge made him beam with joy. If he could save just one person, he could die happily. All of this work would help him to save others, so it was well worth the effort.
Leorio kept running behind Kurapika as he wiped some sweat from his brow. He didn't want to seem too worn out, but he really was. Before he could run up the next few steps, some liquid made him slip and fly backwards. Luckily, he only fell a few steps and was able to stop himself by planting his hands onto the concrete steps. "What the hell was that?!" Leorio shouted, looking up. The steps infront of him, the ones he slipped on, were covered by a puddle of crimson blood.
"WHA-!?" His eyes widened in shock at the sight. He slipped on someone's blood, but who's? Leorio looked even further up to see Tonpa sitting on a step near the puddle of blood. It just so happened that the blood was from Tonpa's nose that appeared to be broken. The round man held onto his square nose and furrowed his bushy brows. Leorio clenched his teeth with fury at the sight of him.
Kurapika stopped running and turned around to his friend, "Leorio, are you okay? That blood isn't yours, right?" Leorio turned away from Tonpa and back to Kurapika, "Nope, it isn't. I slipped on it though." The blonde boy nodded in response and turned around, motioning for Leorio to follow suit.
Leorio pushed himself up and dusted his chest off, but he stopped in his tracks when he saw who Tonpa was with. A [your height] woman with [hair length], [hair texture], [hair color] hair. The shadows obscured her face a bit, but her [skin color] skin was visible. Turning to get more supplies from her bag, Leorio could see her [e/c] eyes. Who is this girl, and why is she with Tonpa? What happened to his nose? Leorio had many questions, and if he wanted to have them answered he'd have to investigate himself.
"Go on Kurapika. Try to catch up with Gon and Killua, I'll find you in a bit." He said turning back to his friend. Kurapika nodded and went off on his way, running up the steps. As his footsteps faded, Leorio turned back to Tonpa and the woman. Turns out, she was tending to Tonpa's broken nose. Gently tapping a cotton swab against the man's cubed nose, she noticed Leorio watching. "Can I help you with something?" She asked with a soft and silvery voice.
Leorio jumped at the sudden voice. "Uh, no. Not at all. I'm just watching you fix his nose. I'm interested in becoming a doctor so any time I can watch the healing process, I will!" He spoke, making his way over to her. "Oh, really? That's great! I'm no doctor, but I picked up some techniques." She responded, wrapping Tonpa's nose.
"Leorio! Great to see ya bud!" Tonpa beamed as the woman wrapped his injury. "We aren't friends." Leorio mumbled lowly, "And what the hell happened to your nose?" He asked. "Oh! Well I tripped and hit my nose on the step. Luckily, this young woman was here to help me out." Tonpa smiled. Leorio felt himself burn with anger once again.
That bastard! He thought, trying to keep his cool. "Right. Well good for you Tonpa, but I could've broken my nose too. I slipped on your blood, and luckily I caught myself before getting injured." He sneered. Tonpa chuckled sheepishly, "Sorry 'bout that!" The round man rubbed the back of his neck. The woman turned from Tonpa, and faced a backpack next to her. She pulled out a small bottle of water and poured some onto a tissue, then she wiped the blood off of Tonpa's nose.
"There we go. That should be good. Well, I should probably clean up that blood before someone else slips and gets hurt." She spoke softly, pushing herself off the steps and standing up. Leorio's eyes widened in shock at this. "You mean you're going to clean up Tonpa's own blood?! He was the one that slipped, he can clean up his own blood." Leorio debated. This poor woman had already gone out of her way to help Tonpa, and now she was going to clean up his blood? No way.
"If you stay here cleaning up this bastard's mess, you'll lose the crowd. That could make you fail the exam before we even get to the second phase!" He tried to knock some sense into her, so that she wouldn't give up her chances of becoming a hunter. "He's using you in order to further himself in the exam! He even gave me and my friends juice that was laced with laxatives!" Leorio tried his best to keep his composure, but he didn't want this woman's chances of being a hunter to go down the drain so quickly.
Her [e/c] eyes looked over to Tonpa, almost as if to see whether or not he confirmed Leorio's accusations. Number 16 just shrugged and chuckled. "I appreciate your concern, but something tells me that if this guy tried to drug you with laxatives, he wouldn't clean up this mess he made. So even if I did leave, this blood would still be here and someone could get hurt." She sighed with defeat.
Leorio couldn't stand seeing such a kind hearted lady using her charitable spirit on such a cruel person, so he packed up her supplies back into the backpack. She just stared at him in confusion. After he zipped the backpack up, he threw it over her back and grabbed her wrist gently. Finally, he began to to pull her along the steps. "Listen, I can't sit here and watch you throw away your kindness on such a pathetic creature. If he doesn't clean it up, he'll be the one responsible for anyone's injury."
Although Leorio felt bad for being so forceful, the lady really appreciated it and began to walk with him. Tonpa stayed back near the puddle of his own blood even though he had no intention of cleaning it up. After the pair was a few feet away from him, she thanked Leorio. "Thank you sir." She whispered, looking down as he held her wrist and led her up the steps with haste. Leorio froze, causing her to also stop. "Y-yeah. Don't sweat it." He managed to squeeze out a few words as he hid his extremely red face. This woman was too much for him. She was so sweet, he nearly got a cavity.
He let go of her wrist, seeing that she was comfortable with the idea of leaving Tonpa behind. "Well, let's go then." She chuckled beginning to walk up the steps. She waited for Leorio to follow before picking up her pace. The boy smiled and nodded matching her speed as they ran up the steps together.
"The name's Leorio, what's yours?" He asked glancing over to her. She smiled softly, "[Y/n]! It's nice to meet you." He nodded in response, "The feeling is mutual, [y/n]."
