I stood in the middle of an intersection. Cars skid to a stop as they saw me dazed and confused in the middle of the street. My whole body feels so hot... Like it's burning. Pain and agony are the only things I know right now.
I raised my hands a bit and saw that they were.. On fire? My skin looked black and flakey, like charcoal over a fire. Hot fire raged from my fingers and up my arms. Ah. So that's why I feel like I'm burning alive; I am.
You may ask yourself, 'why are you so chill when you're burning alive?' Well the truth is, I don't know. I've always been a much more loud person, aggressive sometimes, but usually pretty silly. I guess it's probably the fact I'm dying. Meh. I'll be fine.
I sat down in the middle of the intersection, the lights flicked from green to yellow to red as I watched people run away in fear. A few people watched from a safe distance, desperately yelling into their phones. From what I could hear, the special Fire Force should show up soon. Thats cool; I've always wanted to meet them... Just in better circumstances where I'm not about to die.
So, I sat, twiddling with my burning fingers awaiting the Fire Force to arrive.
Shinra POV
The Special Fire Force truck whizzed around the corner and down the roads as fast as possible. Fire blazed from my feet as I followed right behind them. Numerous people called in and said there was an inferno sighting near the edge of our city range on the 69th and 78th street intersection. As we got closer, I sensed something dangerous, powerful, and unknown monster lurking behind the corner. We would never know unless we saw it, though.
Vulcan stopped the big truck and sent it swerving to the right a bit. I didn't know why until I heard Captain Obi speak through my walkie talkie, "Shinra. Be careful out there. Vulcan, Licht, and Sister say there's something different about this infernal."
"Don't worry, sir. I already felt like something was off. Inspector Licht should check it out before we put them to rest," I said, staring at the infernal from a distance. They were just sitting on the street, twiddling their thumbs. Occasionally they would glance up and see us, but they immediately looked back down. I could see a white flame near their heart. I assume that's why my three teammates hesitated.
While I was studying the strange infernal, Captain Obi spoke through the walkie talkie again. "Licht is getting out of the truck to take a look at the infernal. Sister is coming just in case she needs to start the prayer. We need you to stay close to them and make sure they don't get hurt, got it?"
"Affirmative," I sternly said whilst nodding my head, even though he couldn't see it.
I flew near the truck's hood, landing right next to the door Victor was opening. He stepped out of the truck in his full fire suit. A cold hand gripped my heart as I saw the name watches on the small briefcase he carried, 'GEN 5.' I opened my mouth to say something, but Sister walked out from behind the other side of the truck and calmly said, "Lets go." With that, we all marched straight to the Infernal.
Viktor Licht POV
Oh shit. The fifth generation is already here? Joker said we had at least a decade until it starts...We were playing a guessing game though, so I see why. I walked a little in front of my other teammates, the GEN 5 case swung in my bony hand. I only had a few things in this case but it was enough to start turning the infernal into my anomaly.
Shinra and Sister Iris stopped about ten feet away from the infernal but I kept walking. I needed to see up close. Soon I was only a foot away from the burning figure. I squatted right in front of its face. They didn't spring, jump, or move even a bit. In shaky words, they asked, "Your h-here to kill me?"
"I can make you human again if you give me the chance," I stated, my smile grew larger and larger by the second. "I see you still can talk. You also have a small fraction of human skin left..." My voice wavered as I looked at the infernals chest. Near the heart area a mixed skin tone was shown with white fie blazing all around it. "Is that white fire your power? Are you a part of the third generation?"
"I don't know, sir. I can make white and blue fire from my whole body but I never got enlisted in the Fire Force or sent to Haijima Industries; I needed to stay home with my family and help Mama." The infernal stopped talking for a second, but continued, "They probably don't ever want to see me again, knowing I look like actual charcoal.. Hehe." I giggled a bit. This infernal is able to have full conversations even though they are getting consumed by the flame, its incredible!
"So," I started while opening the briefcase to take out what I needed to be able to get my new anomaly back to the lab, "are you in pain from the fire?" They nodded and went back to thumb twiddling. "I can take that pain away and turn you human. It comes with costs, though..." I was being completely honest. If I gave up the project, they would turn into an infernal demon; even worse than they are.
Before I could get there, the infernal cut in and said, "anything to be human again, sir." I sternly nodded and immediately jabbed a needle into the monster's flakey skin. A blue light flowed through the infernal's body like veins in ours.
"I'll fix you all up... just go to sleep, infernal." With that, the anomaly slumped forward and stopped moving. They were alive, but only by a hair. We needed to get them to the lab for me to look at before they die right here. I explained everything to Shinra and Sister Iris as they came to check on me. Soon, Shinra was bridal style carrying a snoozing infernal back to the Fire Force truck with the rest of the crew looking dumb founded from inside. A marvelous picture, if you ask me.
I filled in Captain Obi and the others as much as possible while Aurthur and Shinra argued over which side of the truck they wanted the infernal to sit on. (Typical)
Soon later, we all rode back to the station with me almost jumping in my seat out of excitement to work on my new project.
NSKSHSOWNJKDDEMCA My eyes hurt from staring at my computer for this long. Also, I fuckin love Viktor... if you see him in the story a lot... you know why. Also, I'll get to the infernal's name later. I kinda made this on the fly for no reason, but I have a feeling it's gonna be hella good!!
