Candice's pov

Leo runs around the seat I am sitting in as I sip my coffee. For the past hour all Caroline, Stefan and I did was catch up and talk while Damon and his lovely wife Elena sat on the other couch with their kid. "So Candice what doctor are you?" Elena asks me and I turn to look at them and find Damon staring at me. I clear my throat and Damon looks away and looks at their baby, Jenna and I say "Um...I finished med school three years ago and I am doing a residency in cardiology right now."

"Cardiology... that's great good for you." Elena says and I look at her confused as she shrugs her shoulders and says "I am a gynaecologist. I finished the course two years ago." I nod my head and frown my eyebrows at her and go to speak when my phone rings. I look at the caller id and my I feel a smile forming when Caroline says "Hm... Is there something your not telling us Candice." I look at her and feel my cheeks heat up and I get up and walk out living room into the garden and answer the call.

Damon's pov

"Why would you ask her that Elena?" I ask Elena who looks at me confused and says "What?" I follow her into the kitchen as she heats the milk for Jenna.

"What's with the what type of doctor are you and good for you shit, this isn't some interrogation." I tell her getting a little annoyed. "Do you know how much a cardiologist makes Damon?" she asks "Way more than how much both you and I are making." 

"Elena how money she makes and how much makes doesn't fucking matter. Grow up for fucks sake." I raise my voice a little. She goes to respond when Josie runs into the kitchen sobbing, cradling her arm and then Caroline follows her. I see that here's a nasty cut on her arm. "Oh my god Care is everything okay?" Elena asks and hands me the bottle with the milk and walks towards Josie who is still crying. "Hey Josie, do you want me to look at your wound?" 

Josie shakes her head and goes near Caroline who is crouching in front of her stroking her back. "Let me clean it, Josie. It won't hurt I promise." She shakes her head and buries it in Caroline's neck crying when Candice walks in with her dog following her. She crouches next to Caroline and strokes Josie's head and says "Hey munchkin." Josie lifts head and looks at Candice who smiles at her and says "Let me see your hand Josie. If we don't wash it and clean it it's going to hurt more tomorrow." Josie hesitates and then Candice asks "Do you wanna come with me and Leo to the pet store to get him food after we clean your wound?" Josie nods her head sniffling. "Yeah? If you wanna come we have to quickly clean the wound. Come on." 

Candice stands and holds out her hand for Josie who grasps at her hand and Candice hoists her up onto the kitchen counter and leans over to run water over Josie's hand. Josie hisses and Candice turns off the tap and looks at Caroline who hands her the first aid kit and she slowly cleans the wound as Leo sits near her legs panting and watching his mom. I hear Elena scoff and she walks out of the kitchen after snatching the bottle out my hand. I just stand there watching Candice with admiration and look at her beautiful features as she helps Josie.

Candice's pov

I walk out of the shop with dog food in my hand and the girls run past me with Leo running behind them happily wagging his tail. They stop in front of the car and I balance the food bag in one hand and with the other hand unlock the door and help the girls up. I sit down in the drivers seat and start the car while Leo leaves the girl and lays down on my lap.
