"it was an accident, i swear i didn't mean it. she wanted to stab me and i just-" catherine said quickly, trembling.

christopher hushed her and sat in front of the girl, holding her hands in his.

everyone was in the living room, waiting for the police and ambulance to come.

"we'll just tell them the truth, that it was an accident," lizzy said.

"they don't want the truth. they just want someone to throw into prison for a couple of years just to close the case," joel stated.

"so what do we do?" erick asked.

"we'll say she hurt herself and fell. her fingerprints are all over the screwdriver," zabdiel stated.

"so are mine," catherine stated.

"we'll get rid of it. the whole thing," erick suggested.

"it'll take too long," jaelyn said again.

the group fell silent, thinking of a solution.

"what if they found all of our fingerprints?" richard suggested.

"it's the same as finding nothing," rosemary stated.

she took the screwdriver out of her hoodie pocket and everyone surrounded her.

"oh god," catherine muttered, burying her face in her hands.

rosemary had removed the cloth, holding it with her bare hands. erick took it from her, making sure he left some marks.

everyone took turns, and richard was last, right after amaia.

after that was done, they threw it out into the pool.

everyone had been interrogated- even marcel and elena, except catherine. and of course they all lied.

"catherine perez, you're up," inspector garcia said before sitting in the living room waiting for her.

"i don't know if i can do it," catherine whispered.

they were away from the living room, and they all managed to lie successfully.

"you have to. just say you don't know anything," amaia said to her.

"hey," richard said, sitting in front of her and pulling her closer.

"you've been lying to protect me for the past five years. now let me protect you, you just need one more lie," he said to her softly.

she nodded shakily, before making her way into the living room and taking a seat in front of the inspector.
