Eunice
Another morning began as my alarm blasting throughout the house - wait, it wasn't my alarm but the sound system of my mother, Krishna. I groaned as I tried to cover my ears in between my pillows because with her music always, I mean seriously, it's always blasting to our ears each morning. Though I know the song but still, it's every 5:30 in the morning. I just groaned since I couldn't stop the music echoing through the pillows.
"I think I need to get used to it by now." I said to myself as I tried to ignore that fact that it really irritates my sensitive ears.
I don't know how Mama can tolerate Mom's blasting music every morning. Well, since I couldn't go back to sleep anymore, I took my time to do my daily routine in the morning at my bathroom which was located inside my typical but still spacious bedroom before joining my parents at the kitchen. The whole second floor was our single floor plan with an open concept since we were a bit minimalist and most of our time was spent in the shop. Anyway, as I got out of my room feeling freshened-up, just a few steps, I immediately saw my parents were having 'lovey dovey' aura revolving around them at the small bar peninsula of our kitchen. For a couple, they never get tired of each other like every second matters and I hope I found someone that compliments my heart like my parents have. Watching them being simply showing affection to each other - well, they're not being sweet like a teenager instead they just talk and laugh with every random conversation they've shared. I sighed and excused myself since I've got the feeling that they will forget to open the shop like what happened yesterday.
"I'm gonna head downstairs to open the shop." I told them as I took a green apple at the counter which they only nodded before they gave a joint kiss on the sides of my forehead.
"Oh honey, don't forget that we're hiring as well." Mama reminded me that it made me smile. At least she doesn't forget that one.
"Okie dokie." I responded then headed downstairs to open the shop.
Downstairs, I was walking carefully as I tied my hair up in a ponytail and the next thing I knew I missed a step which made my butt hit that step before sliding down. Good thing it was just four steps left when my foot decided to miss a step on the staircase. I whined in pain as I tried to stand up and ease the pain on my butt. I also heard some hurried footsteps going my way and gasped seeing me trying to stand up from my ridiculous fall from the stair.
"Honey, are you okay? What happened?" Mama asked as she went closer to me. She really does care.
"I missed a step. Not to mention there's some spilled water on the couple steps." I answered as I dust and fixed my clothing to be presentable again.
"Oh sorry about that. I forgot to mop it after getting hot water for your Mama earlier." Mom cleared as she apologized as well before getting the mop.
"It's okay. I better open the shop now." I told them as I tried to stand up straight which I noticed that Mama wasn't convinced that I am fine from that missed step I made.
"Mama, I'm alright though I think I need hot compress for my butt. I just had an epic fall from the staircase." I assured my mother Eliz who was still looking worried over my state which made me giggled before I gave her a hug. We stood there hugging until she patted my back before kissing my forehead.
"Alright. I'll prepare some for you while you're working at the shop." Mama said as she slightly pinched my right cheek while smiling at me.
"Thanks, Mama. I appreciate it." I told her before I headed to the counter to clean up a little while my parents went to their coffee shop to start the day as well. If I didn't fall down from the staircase they wouldn't open it which I would in their place.
