Last chapter! Thank you guys so much for reading this story! I didn't even think a hundred people would see this. Anyways, here you go!
____________________________Have yourself a merry little Christmas. Let your heart be light...
"Mommy, Daddy, wake up, wake up!"
He feels the bed shift as the four-year old climbs in between them.
"Santa came! I have so many presents, and he left me a note! Come on!"
He feels a tug on his arm, but instead of getting up, he just wraps his arm around his daughter and pulls her into him.
"Mommy!" She whines. "Tell daddy to get up!"
"It's early, Charlotte," Nini says, tiredly.
"But it's Christmas! C'mon, daddy, get up!"
She tries to wriggle out of his grip, but he just pulls her closer and pretends to start snoring. Charlotte giggles.
"I know you're awake, daddy," she says. "It's Christmas! The bestest day of the whole year! Come. On!"
She tries to get out of his grip again, and this time he lets her.
"She's your daughter," he says to Nini, not opening his eyes.
"Oh, just get up, lazy," she replies.
"Yeah, just get up, lazy!" Charlotte exclaims!
"Fine, fine," Ricky says, opening his eyes and sitting up.
Nini's already out of bed and putting her robe on, and Charlie is jumping on the mattress, her brunette curls bouncing up and down.
He stands up and opens his arms, and Charlie squeals excitedly and jumps into them, wrapping her arms around his neck. He catches her and kisses her head.
"You're lucky you're cute."
"You tell me that a lot" she giggles.
"And don't you forget it. Now, let's go see what Santa brought you."
He carries her downstairs while she rambles to Nini.
"I think I heard him last night' I heard the reindeer land on the roof and I heard his jingle bells when he put my presents under the tree!"
"Wow, really?" Nini asks her with a smile on her face. "I think I heard him, too!"
"Did you hear him, daddy?"
"I did. His jingle bells are louder than mommy's snoring."
"Hey!" Nini exclaims. "I don't snore!"
Charlotte giggles and smooshes Ricky's cheeks as she whispers, "He even took all the milk and cookies I left him!"
"They must've been really good then!"
Charlotte let's put an excited squeal as Ricky sets her down in the living room.
"Mommy, can you make hot chocolate?" She asks.
"How about after you open your presents?" Nini suggests.
Charlotte grins and nods. "First, Daddy has to read Santa's letter!"
She grabs the piece of paper off the coffee table and runs over to where he and Nini are sitting on the couch. She climbs onto his lap and snuggles against his chest. He clears his throat.
"Dear Charlotte," he starts in his signature Santa voice. She giggles, and he continues, pointing to the words as he reads them. "You've been a very good girl this year. I got all of your letters and I've read every single one. Mrs. Claus and I are so proud of you, young lady. We love you, and hope you have a very merry Christmas.
P.s. the cookies you made were delicious."Charlotte beams at Ricky. "He got them, Daddy! He got all of my letters!"
He smiles and kisses her forehead. "He did, Princess! Now, go open your presents!"
The four-year old climbs off his lap and runs to the tree, first grabbing her stocking and dumping all the candy stuffed inside.
"She's gonna be bouncing off the walls for the next three months." Nini tells him quietly. "The twins might even be born before she calms down from this sugar high."
He shrugs, smiling at how excited his daughter is. "Worth it."
Nini leans her head on his shoulder while she rubs her belly, feeling the twins kick. They found out they were having identical twin boys, who are due in three months. They couldn't be more excited to expand their family, and Charlotte was over the moon when they told her she was going to be a big sister. She was even more excited when they told her she was gonna have two little brothers instead of one. She just said it's "two more people she can boss around and have at her tea parties."
Both Ricky and Nini were watching Charlotte with the biggest grins on their faces as she rips open all her presents under the tree, squealing at how she got everything she wanted.
"Merry Christmas, Ricky" Nini says, taking his hand in hers and interlocking their fingers over her growing belly.
He smiles as they feel the twins kick, and he kisses her before looking back at Charlotte, watching as she plays with her Minnie Mouse guitar.
"Merry Christmas, Nini."
