The Tertiums were silent as their Primus walked through the lines of duty. It was dark and cold, but it didn't bother the strong enforcers. The limbs of the trees above them swayed from the brisk wind, creating an eery atmosphere.
Tertiums split as their Primus came close. Once he made it to the source of their apprehension, everyone remained silent. He was an angry lycanthrope; anything could set him off. This absolutely would.
"Primus," Goliath, Demise's Secundus, stood from his knelt position, a dark expression looming on his face.
Demise regarded the body that was on the ground. His expression didn't change. He was resilient to death now. He was death. "When?"
"10 PM. He's been dead two hours. His name was–"
"I do not care," Demise interrupted. "Was there a scent?"
"No, Primus, but there is only one person that would dare commit such an act against you."
He knew that. It made his blood boil and his jaw click in frustration. He hated being treated as a fool, but even more so, hated when lycanthropes stepped foot on his dominion. Now, he had no other response, but to be violent.
Violence always worked.
And Demise was the best at being violent.
"Follow footprints if you find them. Work all night and tomorrow I expect more information, but know this," Demise announced, only raising his voice for the last part so that enforcers could hear her. "This is nothing less than a declaration of war, and I will take every measure necessary to ensure our dominance."

He made her heart race. He was completely overwhelming and controlling, but still, part of her liked that. For the last few years, she was the one who had to look after everything; her brother, their house, her medical bills...
It was nice to feel like someone cared.
Though, she was still confused.
But far surpassing that confusion, she was excited. He said he would send for her brother. She hadn't seen him since she started her job as a chosen. She missed him so much. She changed out of the lingerie and into pajamas.
She obeyed her Primus and started packing her things. Admittedly, it wasn't much that she needed, but she packed her luggage and set it by the door.
When she was finished, she went onto her porch and watched the trees. It calmed her.
She watched as the Tertiums suddenly ran passed her cottage and to the opposite side of the forest. They didn't stop for her and they didn't regard her in the slightest, but it was odd. They never came out this way.
She stood up, pulling her jacket on tighter. Her legs were completely bare besides the short pajamas. Her hair was still styled and the makeup was still on her face. Her interest piqued.
Why were the enforcers out? What happened?
They were gone almost as soon as they appeared and she went back inside. The next morning, she woke up, took a shower, and got dressed in her uniform. As she walked to work, the atmosphere was different.
Usually, she stopped at the coffee shop and got a coffee, but today they were closed. No one was out and about. Even as she came into the palace, the maid's quarters was quiet. Everyone was so solemn and she didn't understand why. She left her bag and began her tasks.
