I.N/Jeongin's POV:
It had been maybe a day or two since Appa and Ten had come to see Chang Bin, telling us what had happened with Soo Jin-nuna. Hyun Jin still hadn't gone back to school, but Chang Bin had, he was just miserable about it. When I got home after school, I felt Appa's energy in the house. I rushed inside and found him talking to Hyun Jin, then remembered what he had said about intertwining mine and Hyun Jin's lives so I would have someone to protect me, so I stayed back and listened as they spoke.
"I'm sorry about your father, Hyun Jin," I heard Appa say. "He was a great, honorable, and noble warrior, just like he taught you to be. I know he would be proud of how well you protect not only Jeongin, but the others in this house."
Hyun Jin was still very upset. After a moment, he looked up to Appa.
"The King's Council wouldn't tell me much about what happened to him," Hyun Jin started, his voice shaking. "I need to know, My Lord. I need to know what happened to my father. The King's Council feel I am too young to have to be burdened by such things, but this is my father. This isn't a friend or some stranger. This was the only family member I had in this world, and now he's gone. I feel like I can't breathe without knowing he's out there, doing his duty to the crown, as I've done mine. Knowing the truth may be the only thing that can help me find some kind of solace, My Lord."
"Are you sure?" Appa asked him, gently. "This is a heavy burden to bear, Hyun Jin."
"I'm sure, My Lord," he replied. "I feel like it is the only thing that can make this real enough. Just being told, 'I'm sorry, but he's gone,' was a kick in the ribs, but while I feel the loss, I can't accept it."
"Alright," Appa said, as he started to explain.
I stood there quietly, listening to what happened when Appa, Ten, and so many others went to rescue to Soo Jin. Listening to what Appa said, I could almost see what had happened to those who fell that day. It must've been a horrifying day for those who were there, not knowing whether or not they'd make it out of there alive. It made me understand why Ten was more possessive of Soo Jin than usual when Chang Bin challenged how much he cared for her.
"Here, Hyun Jin," I heard Appa say when he finished telling him everything. "I thought you might want to have these."
"Are these...?" Hyun Jin started.
"You're father's sword, his family ring, and his crest of the King's Council?" Appa asked him. "Yes, they are. I felt that you should have these important items of your father's so you not only have a way to remember him but to remember his sacrifice for the greater good of the kingdom."
"Thank you," I barely heard Hyun Jin get out to Appa.
At that point, I snuck into my room and started my homework. So many other thoughts were on my mind. Among them was how to keep my friends safe when even they were targets.
Wooseok's POV:
I had the twins, their new apprentice, Jong Hyun, and Dong Hae at my house with me where Soo Jin-ah was. The five of us were going to try to figure out what was preventing her from waking up. After all, even though it was rushed, I hadn't found any flaws in the twins spells and rituals between her and Ten.
"I'm going to lower the protective shields on Soo Jin-ah," I told them. "Dong Hae, I need you to ensure that when I take the shields down and remove the time suspension spell I've had on her, she doesn't die. Donju, Dongmyeong, I need you and your apprentice to go over every aspect of those spells and rituals to be sure that there were no mistakes. I'm not a god of love, so I could be wrong, but I didn't find anything that should have caused her to fall into this state. While the four of you do that, I'm going to search her energy and power for anything else that might've caused her to end up like this so I can try to figure out any possible ways to fix it."
