Sanna PoV:
My days were uneventful. I kept my head down and brought no attention to myself. Although the Empire patrolled the streets regularly, I did my best to ignore them. I had a job at a local market stall and spent most of my time there. I didn't earn much but it was enough to rent a small apartment on the other side of the city.
Each day I would travel across the city via rooftop, it was the quickest route to get to my job, and had the least amount of contact with other people, mainly the Empire.
I never pass people up there, it's just me and the wonderful view of Rige city. So it was a huge surprise when I ran into several people on the run from the Empire. And I mean that literally. One moment I was jogging along the open rooftop, the next running smack bang into a girl wearing pink armour after rounding a corner.
And she was just as surprised as I was.
Sabine PoV:
Hera was given a mission by Fulcrum to sabotage a new shipment of TIEs that were just looking too good. We were refueling at Rige after a mission, and thought why not. Blowing up stuff is my speciality!
So she send Zeb and I to do that while Chopper and Ezra picked up a few small supplies. Easy enough. And it was. Sneek in, place the bombs and get out of there without being spotted. We achieved that with no problems. But just before detonating the bombs, we were spotted by a random patrol.
So naturally we detonated the explosives and high-tailed it away from there. The explosion stunned them for a bit but they soon called for back up. Taking to the roof tops seemed out best option. Climbing up several pipes and window sills, we reach the top.
I've got to admit, the view was good. You could see the entire city, and off in the distance were some grasslands. I kinda wish we could stay and wait for sunset, I would love to see those pretty colours in contrast to the landscape around me, but unfortunately, a ground squad started firing at us.
Pulling me along, Zeb and I started to run. We dodged any stray bullet that were come near did as we ran from roof to roof, jumping the short distance between buildings.
"Spectre 5 to Ghost, we have a problem." I called into the com attached to my armour.
"Go ahead spectre 5" Hera replied.
"we may have a a small problem"
"what is it?"
"Imperial patrols have noticed us and are chasing us through the city. "
A bullet flies through the air two metres ahead of me. Those troopers are getting more accurate.
"not unexpected, but prepared for. Where are you two"
"on the rooftops. But we are running out of city, and the buildings are getting shorter."
"OK, we'll come pick you up at the far side, near the old hall."
"acknowledged, see you soon."
The roof we were currently on drops a level. They better arrive soon. We round a corner, ducking as several bullets whizz over our heads. Karabast. Not quite watching where I was going, I round the corner and run into someone. Thrown backwards, I land on my back, my head aching from the impact. I'm lucky I had a helmet on, the other person is on the ground in front of me clutching their head. That might leave a mark.
They groan and look up at me, a puzzled expression on their face. I must admit, I was a little surprised too. Zeb pulls me to my feet and the other person does the same, swaying a little.
I take them in. They look about my age, maybe a a year or so younger. They have orange hair and are wearing a pair of overals over a dark blue shirt. A small backpack on their back. It's begining to get dark so I can't make out many more features.
Before either Zeb or I can do anything, they dart around us and back the other way. They round the corner and stumble back almost as soon as they left, several blaster bolts trailing in their wake.
"whaaa... " they ask, clearly not expecting to almost be shot.
"yeah, that's on us, sorry " Zeb says, rubbing his neck. "we may have blown up a couple of TIEs."
"but... I'm not you." they asked, more of a question then statement.
"they must have thought you were with us, " I reply.
There are sounds of shouting on the street below and more bullets hit the ground near us.
"we need to move, Hera should be here soon," I say and Zeb nods.
I start to move forward when Zeb catches my arm and guesters to the kid behind us.
I turn, "um, those troopers won't stop firing at us until we are dead or captured. And now that they think your with us, that goes for you too."
The kid looks at me for a long second then replies "I think I can mange."
Well sure, can't we all.
They turn and start walking the opposite direction. Soon enough more red bolts spark at their feet. They hurriedly step back behind the wall.
"we have a friend on her way with a ship, we just need to get to the pickup point."
They nod and Zeb gives me an OK sign, looking back down at the bucketheads. It's now or never. I start running, so does Zeb, but the kid Isn't as fast. They must have really hurt their head. Oops. I hear the pings behind me as blaster bolts scatter our path. We reach the end of the rooftop and jump the short distance to the next. Below, I can see the lights of the patrol units searching for us through the city. We need to get out while we can.
I hear a roar of an engine and the Ghost flies into view. The door opens and I can see the silhouette of Ezra standing on the tip. It lowers to the top of the roof ahead of us and we rush forward towards it.
"I hear you needed some help! " Ezra states in his normal cirpy voice.
"nice of you to drop in! " I reply as I walk up the ramp, Zeb close behind me.
"who's your friend? " he asks, gesturing to the kid, who hadn't moved.
Oh, right.
"hey," I call to them. "we can get you out of this mess, then return you home soon."
With the three of us staring at them, they seemed to consider, and walked up behind me into the hull of the ship. Or it could have been a few stray blaster bolts which were now aiming at the Ghost, who, thanks to Hera, was firing back.
The door closes and I feel the dropping sensation in my stomach as we take off, heading into space.
"so, " Ezra asks, leaning on the leader, while looking at the kid. "who are you?"
