Zayn's POV
I pulled the door open and silently walked out of the staff room. The principal was there, but thankfully she hadn't spoke a word to me except for 'good morning' in her regular cheery tone. Good; the rumour hadn't gotten out to the rest of the staff yet.
I took a long sip of my coffee and an unknown student caught my eye. I thought this was weird because by now I knew everyone in the school. She was quietly putting stuff in her locker that looked suspiciously more empty than the rest of them. This girl had medium-length straight black hair, with side-bangs and bright icy blue eyes. I didn't recognize her; I expected she was a new student, but continued walking to my class.
When I walked in, every person in the class was there except for Harry. I got two students to roll the TV in, walked back to my desk, opened the drawer, and pulled out a DVD case for the movie 'Gladiator'. Most people would think, "is that really a historical movie?' and the answer is yes.
It's a historical drama, not that anybody cares, though.
I popped it into the player and pressed play. I walked over to the switch and turned off the lights, returning to my desk. Around five minutes later Harry burst through the door.
"Sorry for being late, Mr. Malik."
"Mhm." I said, giving him a late slip. He sighed and opened the door again, coming back a few moments later. He sat in his desk, only after coming to my desk with a note, and watched as I unfolded the paper.
How about I get some of that reward now? Sooner is always better than later ;)
I rolled my eyes, crumpled the note, and threw it in the trash bin next to my desk. I wasn't quite sure what reward I was to give him, as if I gave him anything more than a kiss for a congratulations, it'd surely get out and I'd be fired. Maybe I'd just give him the reward of knowing he got a good grade in my class. I'd get a kick out of that.
---
The movie ended and Harry made it a routine to come to my desk every day after class when everyone else was gone.
"So... My note..." Harry said quietly and bit his lower lip.
"Sorry, no reward for you until report cards come out. And, remember, I'm only giving you a reward if you get a good grade. So, if you don't start paying attention - I knew you didn't hear a word of that movie - you won't be getting any reward at all."
"Hmmph." He crossed his arms across his chest.
"Do you even know what the movie was called, Harry?"
"Pfft, yea-" He took a long pause. "Um... no, I don't."
"I didn't think so."
I gathered up all my papers and Harry put a hand in front of me, blocking my path.
"You're still coming to my house after school, right?"
"Sure thing." I said, nodding. "Just a quick question; would anyone be home?"
"No..." He said and raised an eyebrow.
"Good."
